The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Staff Associate III in New York, New York

This position involves direct participation in research aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases caused by dysregulation of RNA metabolism. The projects employ multidisciplinary approaches in the areas of genomics, RNA/protein biochemistry, and neuroscience.

Will be responsible;e for the Design and execution of fully planned experiments in the fields of RNA regulation and neurodegenerative disease under the supervision of the PI. Will perform other duties necessary to the functioning of the laboratory such as maintaining instruments, managing lab inventory, and ordering supplies. Works both collaboratively and independently to reach specific research objectives with minimal supervision by the PI.

Will also be involved in mouse handling, mammalian tissue culture, viral delivery, conventional biochemical and molecular assays, immunofluorescence analysis, confocal microscopy. Will also be responsible for data presentation, and assistance in the preparation of grant proposals and publications


Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, neuroscience, or related discipline. Five or more years of hands-on lab experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology.

Additional requirements.

Strong knowledge of biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, and direct expertise with related laboratory techniques. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, multitasking, and the ability to keep accurate records.
