The Yahoo Commerce team's mission is to help our audience of 600M monthly active users discover and make informed decisions about products and services so they can save time and money. We primarily serve audiences who are in their shopping journeys across all Yahoo properties. We work directly with our partners to reach new audiences, gain new users, and drive GMV through leveraging our ecosystem of products and services.

A Lot About You:

You are an experienced software engineer who works well in a cross-functional environment designing and developing world class products for our users. You will work directly with engineering peers, product managers, and designers to expand our growing catalog of product offerings. In this role, you will be directly responsible for, scoping, building, maintaining, and iterating on user facing web applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Autonomously design scalable, maintainable, secure and reusable strategic solutions
  • Develop team members through direct mentorship
  • Determine estimation, work break down, scoping, design, implementation for mid-to-large scale projects, and complex multi-month deliverables with insightful strategic approaches
  • Act as primary technical liaison to business teams to translate business needs to work streams and technical solutions
  • Lead key team initiatives from start to finish while managing and improving the product development life cycle
  • Present and communicate across multiple groups to influence decisions, share knowledge, and solve organizational problems
  • Asses team resourcing and delivery scope and estimates to ensure we balance sense of urgency and quality
  • Develop highly performant web applications that are validated by strong unit tests, continuous integration testing, and regression tests
  • Collect, analyze and convert data into engineering and business insights
  • Work with Business and Product teams to conduct research, and develop products that support ongoing innovations and discover strategic opportunities
  • Support our applications in production, including working with our Support, Operations, and Product teams to minimize incident impact on our business
  • Responsible for the definition, design, development and timely completion of new product features
  • Performing code reviews for your peers where you will be learning from and contributing to collaborative working models
  • Working with engineering team members to explore and create interesting solutions while sharing knowledge amongst the team
  • Collaborating with user experience designers, product managers, and other engineers to deliver new products, features, enhancements, and bug fixes
  • Recommend alternative approaches to solving complex problems and using new technologies to achieve goals


Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 6 years of web application development experience
  • You enjoy working with a strong, cross-functional, and sometimes cross-geography team of engineers
  • You are passionate about working with our business and product teams to turn ideas into user facing products
  • High proficiency and significant real world experience with the following at scale; SPA, responsive design, javascript frameworks, CSS frameworks, web performance
  • You are an outstanding software engineer with experience building and maintaining complex web applications
  • You love coding and experimenting with new technologies
  • You always think positively, have a can-do attitude, and focus on "getting stuff done" with quality
  • People like to work with you because you're a fast learner, a capable engineer, and a responsible team player
  • Experience with SCRUM or similar agile development methodology
  • Experience building accessible web applications
  • Experience with test driven development, unit test / UI test frameworks such as Jest / Selenium / Puppeteer / Cypress is an added advantage
  • Functional knowledge and experience with Web Services (REST, etc ..)
  • Expert in the following technologies (or equivalent); Next.js, React.js, CSS, HTML, TypeScript, JSON, Webpack

The compensation for this position ranges from $128, 250.00 - $266, 875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
