Description Senior Accountant – Lease Accounting Our client, a leader in the luxury goods industry, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Accounting/Finance team. This role will primarily focus on lease accounting and reporting while contributing to the financial management of the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting detail oriented who is detail-oriented, process-driven, and eager to grow into broader responsibilities as the lease accounting process becomes automated in 2025.
As a Senior Accountant, you will: Ensure timely and accurate period-end closing reporting for lease accounting in compliance with ASC 840, ASC 842, and IFRS16. Read and analyze lease agreements, abstract key details, and create lease schedules for rent, Common Area Maintenance (CAM), property taxes, utilities, and tenant allowances. Maintain lease accounting spreadsheets and prepare monthly journal entries. Participate in budgeting for all lease-related expenses, updating schedules monthly, and conducting variance analyses (budget vs. actual). Collaborate on the transition from Excel to lease accounting software, assisting with sourcing, evaluating suppliers, and project management. Perform monthly close tasks, including journalizing rent, percentage rent, and reconciling landlord statements. Work closely with landlords to address discrepancies and manage outstanding balances. Assist in audits and reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls related to lease management systems.

If you meet the qualifications, we’d love to hear from you! Requirements The ideal candidate has: At least 3 years of experience in lease accounting, including creating lease abstracts and schedules. A solid understanding of financial accounting rules such as ASC 840, ASC 842, and IFRS16. Experience with budgeting and forecasting for lease-related costs. Proficiency with SAP; experience with lease accounting software and/or system implementations is a plus. A BA in Accounting or a similar degree. A strong eye for detail, organizational skills, and a process-oriented mindset. The ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and collaborate across teams.
