Overview
SMBC Capital Markets Inc. is hiring a software engineer in the Software Development department, New York office. The position is in support of mid-office, finance and operations functions.
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $75,000 and $150,000. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Responsibilities
Software Engineer is responsible for participating in the technical design of all aspects of software solutions for the Capital Market business.
This includes both in-house and external applications.
The individual usually is on the team of mission critical projects and provides the technical expertise for development environment, technology architecture and implementation.
The individual also works together with the business users and analysts to ensure the applications meet users' specification and requirements.
Furthermore, this role will be interact with the larger development team, share design and solutions, and contribute to the overall objectives of the development team.
Qualifications
Three to ten years practical work experience involving software development and systems implementation.
Proficient in Python and Microsoft .Net/C#, with C/C++ programming languages as a plus
Familiarity with the database concept, relational SQL, No-SQL as a plus
Familiarity with Microsoft Office technologies such as: Excel, COM
Experience with Fixed Income business and products
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to design / architecture a software solution.
Solid background in building enterprise quality software solutions in multi-technology environments and solid understanding of the impact of changes to the environments.
Ability to build a network of relationships across the organization, obtain a detailed understanding of internal clients’ needs and drive organization wide design concepts gaining buy in and support of stakeholders.
Strong solid analytical skills for diagnosing and troubleshooting potential system issues; Sharp mind to process solution with quick turn-around.
Good teamwork and strong work ethic.
The developer should have ability to work as a stand-alone technical resource.
Have superior communication and user-facing skills, the ability to explain complex problems and the maturity to solve problems directly & independently
The ability to quickly understand overall business requirement, to analyze business process and to define technical solution and business process.
Fixed income business and product knowledge is a plus.
Front-end e.g. Web development experience is a plus.
Undergraduate or graduate preparation in computer science from a top-tier computer science program (or equivalent).
