Amazon Software Development Engineer II, AWS Payment Processing in New York, New York

Description

This team plays a critical role in building and improving the architecture of the system that supports payment transactions, including Charge, Refund, Disbursement, and Verification use-cases for AWS customers worldwide. This team enables AWS sign-ups by verifying and authenticating new customers, and handles core payment workflows that are integral to the customer experience. Additionally, it enables processing $20B+ worth online transactions annually.

Key job responsibilities

The engineer will collaborate cross-orgs to design and deliver our roadmap and vision. They will have ownership over components impacting the reliability, scalability, and performance of the payment platform. This position requires strong software skills, a customer-obsessed mindset, and the ability to address complex distributed systems challenges. It presents the opportunity to gain deep domain expertise in payments processing while delivering tangible value to AWS customers globally. Overall, the scope of the SDE-II role is broad with high impact across the AWS Payments organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
