The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Senior Staff Associate II/Senior Cleanroom Engineer in New York, New York

Columbia University Nano Initiative (CNI) Labs has an immediate opening for a Clean Room Engineer (Senior Staff Associate II).

JOB DUTIES

Under supervision of Clean Room Director, maintaining efficient and effective Clean Room operations to facilitate micro- and nano- semiconductor device fabrication. Consult on appropriate processes, research protocols, and process flows. Instruct students on the operation of lab equipment, develop training procedures, draft Standard Operating Procedures, and conduct post-training qualification assessments for lab users. Develop and lead Clean Room orientations for new users and provide support and supplemental training for the operation of organization's lab management software, such as the Badger Lab Management System. Troubleshoot and resolve engineering problems related to both equipment and nanofabrication processes such as photolithography, plasma etching, deposition, metrology, and more. Assist in installation of new equipment in the lab and perform preventative maintenance and machine repairs on existing instruments, including system malfunction diagnostics, cleaning chambers, replacing machine parts, and procuring necessary components, materials, and consumables. Work with supervisor to ensure safe operation of the Clean Room within the Center for Engineering and Physical Science Research (CEPSR), including the safe handling of chemicals and gas cylinders, the implementation and maintenance of safety training, and ensuring a secure manner of work in the Clean Room.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

* At least two (2) years of experience as a Process Engineer or related in a semiconductor facility, including hands on experience with nanofabrication using photolithography, plasma etching, deposition, metrology equipment, and other device fabrication equipment.
