Strategic Partnerships manages the most significant enterprise relationships across American Express, with a mission to build differentiated partnerships that unlock the potential of American Express’ strategic relationships to drive growth and innovation. The team is responsible for defining a multi-year partnership strategy, supporting key negotiations and projects, and driving new business opportunities globally with our largest Blue Box partners. It exists to deliver against three core objectives: (1) foster and maintain external senior level relationships to drive partner strategies, (2) lead the partner strategy that maximizes value to customers and the enterprise, and (3) bring the best of Amex to drive growth and innovation.

This Senior Manager will report to the Director, Strategic Partnerships, and work closely with the Vice President & GM, Strategic Partnerships, to drive strategic enterprise goals within the context of the PayPal and Google relationships. Success in this role will require developing deep knowledge of the role these companies play in the digital economy, an ability to drive collaboration across various business units internally to achieve partnership outcomes, and comfort working in white space as we look to create new sources of value for our joint customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the successful day to day operation of the partnerships including initiative tracking, facilitating regular partner communications and scorecard delivery.

  • Develop a deep understanding of our Partner’s business model, strategy and priorities as well as their existing relationships with Amex and use this knowledge to identify new revenue and share driving opportunities for the partnership.

  • Support the development of new growth opportunities from conception through ideation, business case development and execution.

  • Develop deep and broad relationships across internally and with the external partners to support the successful operation and performance of the partnership.

  • Build excellent relationships with a range of stakeholders across Amex who are critical to the success of the partnerships and work closely with them to meet business objectives and drive value to Card Members (including US Consumer, GMNS, Digital Labs, AET, and GCS).

  • Drive analysis and documentation to support executive level decision making and presentations.

  • Part of team serving as central point of contact to evaluate go forward business opportunities and support partner needs of PayPal and Google.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience working with partners to identify win/win opportunities and drive growth.

  • Experience driving complex strategic projects with many stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinking skills to analyze and develop solutions for complex issues.

  • Strong financial and analytical acumen; ability to translate data into insight.

  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

  • Natural collaborator and excellent influencer who enjoys working with and through others to drive the success of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal communication. Able to take complex ideas and materials and synthesize for executive audience.

  • Ability to excel in a highly dynamic, fast-paced and ambiguous space. Highly proactive and comfortable acting with autonomy.

  • Partner manager experience strongly preferred; background in merchant services and digital payments / digital advertising a plus.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
