Senior Financial Analyst – Finance Data Science & Analytics

The Finance Data Science & Analytics (DS&A) team at American Express helps drive sustainable, long-term growth for the enterprise by empowering smarter, profitable, real-time investment decisions. We reinvent forecasting, tracking, and analytical processes, leveraging the latest tools and setting the standard for advanced analytics. The team leads the strategic decisions of billions of dollars of investments at the Enterprise level. Our team’s goal is to help the organization use data to drive decisions around investments and deep dive on investment results.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to work with the leadership team, gain a deeper understanding of the AXP business and build key business relationships. This position will help drive critical decision support to senior executives across both the business units and finance, including the EVP and Head of Corporate Planning and the AXP CFO. The ideal candidate must possess outstanding analytical skills as well as excellent communication skills.

As a Sr Financial Analyst in DS&A, you will:

  • Assist with the FP&A process for Enterprise investments, including the Annual Plan, Plan Refresh, Long Range Plan, and monthly outlooks in coordination with business unit investment and FP&A teams

  • Build, maintain and make enhancements to Enterprise dashboards that provide Finance leadership with the latest insights into cardmember acquisition performance

  • Support analytical projects within the investments space with strategic thinking to optimize investments at an enterprise level and ensure long-term goals are achieved

  • Prepare ad-hoc and decision support materials for Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Investor Relations and other senior management forums

  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Planning and LFO teams to appropriately reflect business strategies in planning and forecasts, manage investment P&L lines and deep dive on investment results

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience managing/leading projects using large amounts of data

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate with and influence people across all levels of the organization

  • Be data-driven, outcome-focused and a fast learner

  • Desire to work on ambiguous projects, with the ability to break down and execute on complex ideas

  • Exposure to Power BI, Python [knowledge of Pandas, PySpark]

Preferred:

  • Eagerness to continuously improve, optimize and automate processes

  • Experience with visualization dashboard tools (Power BI or Tableau) strongly preferred

  • Exposure to SQL, Machine Learning Studio

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
