Job Purpose

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) presents unique opportunities for a full-time on-site Senior Multimedia Engineer to join a team responsible for multimedia applications such as control rooms, broadcast centers, large format video walls, digital signage, IPTV, and AV over IP networks. The senior engineer's focus will be to provide engineering for the historic NYSE building and ICE offices around the world using the newest and most advanced media platforms.

Demonstrated experience as a well-versed Broadcast, AV, IT and/or Multimedia senior engineer is a prerequisite to succeed in this position. The ideal candidate will adeptly combine media technology specifications and multifaceted problem-solving during the interview process.

The "Enterprise Multimedia Engineering" (EME) team is composed of highly skilled engineers committed to sustaining platforms that are consistently reliable, have built-in redundancy and round the clock availability. As a team member, you will oversee projects from start to completion, and drive broad detailed innovations within a global multimedia network. The collective of seasoned technology specialists handle engineering, implementing, innovating, integrating, and designing media infrastructure for the NYSE and its parent company ICE across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

As a senior engineer within the EME team, you are expected to prioritize deliverables, show exceptional technical skills, and keep a comprehensive sense of ownership on all ongoing projects and media platforms. The role involves frequent interactions with fellow technologists, project managers, directors, senior executives, and vendors to ensure the delivery of consistently accessible digital experiences for NYSE guests and ICE employees across other offices. The emphasis for this role is less on experience with specific technologies and more on a sharp vision for what defines reliable enterprise-grade software and hardware. It is essential to be thoughtful and deliberate when selecting the right technology and vendor partners while still being adaptable to sudden changes in direction.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation of audio-visual equipment throughout planning and testing to handoff to operations. Diagnosing and resolving issues as they arise and post incident recording every instance, categorizing them based on severity and ensuring follow-up to prevent future occurrences.
• Play an integral role in the design, implementation, and operation of a new broadcast control room, crucial for supporting both onsite and offsite media outlets covering the NYSE, along with managing thousands of in-house productions.
• Monitor, analyze, and resolve issues on video, audio, screens, LED walls, cameras, switchers, routers, multi-viewers, servers, workstations, appliances, character generators, automation, and fiber or copper routing with the ability to step into an operator position if needed.
• Support sound reinforcement techniques, digital mixing consoles, audio signal processing, and speaker placement to perfect sound quality.
• Provide expert engineering for AV over IP protocols like Dante AV, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110, etc. with different video standards and various aspects of EDID management, resolutions, frame rates, sync, color depth, brightness, chroma subsampling, video streaming and delivery standards such as RTMP, HLS, SRT, LRT, etc.
• Budget pre-postproduction creation, RFPs, vendor and technology selection, proper media format distribution, high availability and disaster recovery, reporting on vendor technical decisions post implementation.
• Manage, drive, and autonomously provide event audio-visual technical support for town halls, live local or remote events while collaborating with external vendors and internal stakeholders, leadership, and production teams to understand their requirements for in-person, hybrid, remote participation to then recommend or suggest strategic solutions.
• Work closely with in-house production teams to ensure flawless integration of AV elements with other event or facility components, such as staging, camera placement, lighting, sound, and multimedia related to Workplace Technologies and the AV/Broadcast hardware stack.
• Design, learn, test, prep, and run audio visual infrastructure, latest technology and new media applications while collaborating with multiple business units such as operations and engineering for product testing, demos, solving issues, knowledge transfer, joint tasks and to set up standards and procedures.
• Keep lab space, stored inventory, and respective essential equipment well organized and update asset tracking system, hardware logs and Wiki/SharePoint sites with latest inventory of systems, displays, peripherals, and pool of important spare components.
• Conduct regular maintenance and quality checks on equipment to guarantee the best performance and minimize downtime.
• Initiate and drive projects from start to finish and add improvements post project completion; document and update system know-hows, procedures, drawings or workflows.
• Plan for contingencies and prove the ability to transition quickly between multiple technical issues while solving problems with time limits in minutes or hours, not days or weeks.
• Lead project design discussions around scalable system architecture and document requirements including system diagrams, hardware specifications, redundancy/high availability/disaster recovery models and POCs/mockups.
• Work after regular business hours or late into the evening, fulfilling weekend work commitments, and participating in on-call rotations every three weeks.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 10+ years of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while driving execution on multiple deadlines and leading technical event production teams, with a deep understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
• Streaming engineering with live broadcast/webcasting and working knowledge of LiveU, Vimeo or Haivision remote production support, as well as Dalet Galaxy (MAM) and Digital Signage platforms.
• Audio visual technical experience working in large conference rooms or convention centers, theaters, concert venues, festivals, and other large-format AV production spaces with media transports such as SDI, HDMI, DP, Fiber, Copper and AVoIP.
• Experience designing and developing globally scalable audio-visual solutions for hybrid events and internet broadcast support while managing and leading vendors, integrators, technical operators, and design teams for the execution of events.
• Proficient understanding of current and future industry standards for audio visual networked technology, live event production, and internet-based broadcasts.
• Ability to work well autonomously or in a team environment with executives, producers, directors, and vendors under strict timelines and constant changes throughout the event production process.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (local and international) for event setup, support, and teardown. Needs to be able to lift/move objects more than 40 lbs. on a frequent basis
• Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations, and build team consensus to move forward.
• Able to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels in the organization; develop procedural documentation; conduct effective technical presentations; and effectively prove new products and solutions.
• Design, set up and run AV systems, including audio, lighting, projection, and stage equipment to deliver extraordinary presentations and productions.
• Prepare, schedule, test, manage and support live streams to internal and external Content Delivery Networks.
• Knowledgeable with CDN platforms such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Wowza, Microsoft Stream, etc. and hybrid livestream productions using platforms and tools like Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Webex.
• Proficient in server-client fundamentals across Linux, Windows, and MacOS, with at least two years of programming integrating third-party apps using APIs, connectors, or web-hooks.
• Experienced with network protocols, routing/switching/QoS, web proxies, web filtering, ACLs, and firewalls and their impact on AV over IP ecosystems when not implemented correctly.
