Amazon Senior Assistant Buyer - Women's Footwear in New York, New York

Shopbop.com is seeking a Senior Assistant Buyer to provide operational and buying support for the Footwear Buyer, helping to grow and maintain relationships with key vendors and drive business goals. The successful candidate will have a keen sense of fashion and trends, be self-starting, flexible, highly organized, results-oriented, and reliable. They will have excellent analytical skills and strong computer skills. They must have the proven ability to work well under pressure in a demanding environment where teamwork is key. They will also be career-oriented with a strong desire to take on increasing levels of responsibility.

Key job responsibilities

• Manage a subset of brands within the department; responsible for all buying functions for that subset including assortment planning, purchase order management, and negotiating profitability

• Create and analyze item selling reports. Manage opportunities for reorders and potential liabilities with high level of accuracy

• Drive in season buying strategy, including product selection and key item development with assistance of buyer

• Provide administrative and operational support to the team including open to buy components, maintaining on-order follow up, in season reorders and profitability.

• Help negotiate terms, RTV/swaps, additional extended terms discounts, and off price with vendors.

• Monitor site daily to ensure products are properly represented

• Attend market appointments

• Assist buyer in identifying key trends and finding new brands.

Basic Qualifications

• 3-4 years in similar industry-specific environment. Specific category experience not required, but some experience in category management is needed.

• Highly proficient in all computer skills including MS word, excel and PP and system skills.

• College degree (BA)

Preferred Qualifications

• Assistant Buyer with fashion buying experience.

• Strong business and financial analysis skills.

• Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, OTB, inventory productivity measures, and assortment planning.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information effectively, accurately and concisely.

• Strong negotiation and presentation skills.

• Ability to build/maintain strong vendor partnerships

• Problem-solver with ability to anticipate and identify issues as they arise and drive situations to resolution.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and summarize data in order to identify and address potential business performance issues.

• Detail-oriented and able to complete assigned tasks quickly and accurately without requiring follow-up.

• Customer-driven attitude.

• Keen understanding of and interest in the fashion industry

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $48,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $103,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
