New York University Research Lab Manager (Assistant Research Scientist) in New York, New York
The Jameel Arts and Health Lab (the Lab) seeks a full-time Research Lab Manager to begin early Spring 2025. The Lab was established by the Steinhardt School at New York University, WHO Europe, Community Jameel, and Culturunners. With a focus on overlooked and underserved communities, the Lab leverages a global network of researchers, artists, community advocates, and policy partners to measurably improve lives through the arts and advance access and implementation across 194 UN Member States. Per the terms of the grant, this position will be available from 2025-2027 and may be renewable.
The Lab Manager will be affiliated with NYU and work primarily on the coordination of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab (https://www.jameelartshealthlab.org/) under the direction of Dr. Nisha Sajnani (https://steinhardt.nyu.edu/people/nisha-sajnani) , Founding Co-Director for the Lab. While candidates residing in New York City and surrounding areas are preferred, remote candidates who are able to work in the United States will also be considered. The Research Lab Manager will have opportunities to contribute to conference presentations, reports, and manuscripts, as well as contribute to and attend a rich array of events available through the Lab and through NYU more broadly.
Specific responsibilities of the Research Lab Manager include:
Maintaining administrative operations such as weekly agenda setting, maintaining meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, managing the calendar of Lab activities, and organizing meetings and travel;
Coordinating with the Office of Research on grant writing and grants management, including researching grant opportunities, developing proposals, maintaining shadow budgets, managing subaward agreements, and compiling progress reports to funders and adhering to University policy and procedures;
Project management and research operations such as organizing multiple project timelines and deliverables, documenting project decisions, maintaining project materials, and communication with the NYU IRB committee as needed;
Coordinating internal communication between personnel engaged in different focus areas of the Lab including research, communications and public engagement, capacity building, and policy development
Developing public communications for research projects such as drafting website, social media, and newsletter content in conjunction with the Lab communications team;
Coordinating and overseeing meetings for research personnel and interns who contribute time to research and research translation projects within the Lab;
Creating systems of research data documentation and management in collaboration with the Lab’s research personnel and international research and policy partners;
Research tasks such as preparing presentations and generating data reports for public and specialized audiences.
Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, creative arts therapies, arts in health, or related social science field, Master’s degree preferred;
2 years of experience working on research teams and/or project management, preferably in the area of arts and health including the creative arts therapies;
Experience with grants and contract management;
Familiarity with budget management;
Familiarity with Google Suite (Google slides, sheets, docs, etc.);
Ability to manage multiple projects with independent timelines and deliverables;
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
Excellent written and spoken English; multilingualism welcome;
Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively on complex tasks;
Experience with knowledge translation; and
Commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Compensation
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
