The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Application Support Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of REDCap and related systems, focusing on server and database management and maintaining up-to-date applications. This role requires close attention to data security, adherence to compliance standards, and proactive system monitoring. Responsibilities include cloud infrastructure support, particularly on AWS, application configuration and maintenance, database integrity, and developing integrations with systems like Electronic Health Record (Epic) and Biobanking system (OpenSpecimen). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science or a related field, experience in application support or system administration, and proficiency in database management and cloud services. Advanced qualifications, such as specialized certifications and experience with REDCap, Epic, and Twilio, are preferred. This position demands excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a research team environment.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Support:

  • Optimize REDCap performance on AWS, ensuring systems are scalable and reliable.
  • Implement disaster recovery and backup strategies to prevent data loss.
  • Conduct regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities within the cloud infrastructure.

Application Maintenance:

  • Regularly review and implement software updates and patches for REDCap to enhance functionality and security.
  • Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve any application issues.
  • Document changes and updates in system logs and user guides

Database Support:

  • Maintain database integrity and security, adhering to HIPAA and other compliance standards.
  • Perform regular data backups and validate the integrity of those backups.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning and query optimization.

REDCap Custom Projects:

  • Design and implement custom REDCap projects to meet specialized research requirements.
  • Collaborate with research teams to develop tailored data collection tools and workflows.

System Integration:

  • Develop and maintain integrations between REDCap, Epic, OpenSpecimen, and other relevant systems.
  • Utilize APIs and custom scripting to automate workflows and data transfers between systems.
  • Test and validate integrations to ensure seamless data exchange and system functionality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in application support, development, or system administration.
  • Proficiency in database management and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, preferably AWS.
  • Understanding of data security practices and compliance regulations.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for automation and integration tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Certifications in AWS, database administration, or cybersecurity.
  • Experience with REDCap, Epic, and all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Twilio for developing and integrating advanced communication solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage complex system integrations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to support a multidisciplinary research team.
