Fedcap Pyschosocial Clubhouse Engagement Specialist in New York, New York

Join a team of professionals who work together with members to develop and coordinate the daily activities of people living with mental illness opportunities for friendship, employment, housing, education, and access to medical and psychiatric services in a single caring and safe environment. Members and staff co-equally participate in the identification and empowerment of members' strengths, skills, and interests. The staff offers a positive, supportive relationship that helps to build members' self-esteem and encourages working toward identified goals, wellness, and recovery.

SALARY: $21.64 to $23.00 per hour

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facilitate assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner, maximizing Members' skills, goals, engagement, and leadership.

  • Plan and coordinate work to meet the needs of the Clubhouse and its Members.

  • Attend outside meetings, speak to various groups, and visit other Clubhouses in an effort to give Chelton Loft visibility in the community and to share with and learn from other Clubhouse programs. Develop long and short-term strategic planning for Clubhouse work; support by keeping the work on task; and develop work in collaboration with Members, Staff, and Program Director. Lead Clubhouse's projects as needed and assigned.

  • Participate in the Clubhouse's Transitional Employment Program (TE), which paid jobs for Members in the community. Develop and manage TE placements by developing relationships with employers, learning the job; training and supporting members on the job. As a Clubhouse worker, a priority is to provide TE job coverage whenever necessary.

  • Generalist role includes employment, services, evening/weekend/holiday, and unit responsibilities while working to engage members in all aspects of Clubhouse operations. Provide coverage on a rotating basis for the evening, weekend, and holiday social activities.

  • When needed to advocate, direct and model communication between members and service providers.

  • Provide training and support to new Members, Staff, Interns, and Volunteers.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in social work, rehabilitation, counseling, or a related field is preferred.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in human services.

  • Prior experience in a Psychosocial Clubhouse or other mental health community support program is preferred.

  • Prior experience engaging women and men impacted by the criminal legal system is a plus.

  • Flexibility and a belief in rehabilitation and recovery are essential.\

  • Bilingual Preferred (Spanish/French/Haitian Creole/ASL).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrable knowledge of

  • the mission, vision, and goals of Fedcap Inc and The Fedcap Group and execution of relevant policies and procedures.

  • excellent analytical skills; computer literate and highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel or another database software.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct reports.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position; hours will be determined by your supervisor. The normal schedule is 40 hours per week during Clubhouse hours of operation. At times, must be willing to work in excess of 40 hours per week as driven by operational needs.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
