Minimum Qualifications Psychiatrist 2, SG-38:Salary: $261,361License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State AND certification in general psychiatry by the ABPN. Limited Permit Option: You may be eligible for appointment to Psychiatrist 2 if you have licensure in another state or Canada AND a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited permit was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.

Duties Description The selected candidate will serve within Washington Heights Community Service’s inpatient unit, a 21-bed acute care unit that provides services to adult community members. The selected candidate will report directly to the Unit Chief and will be responsible both for direct patient care and for supervision of direct patient care performed by 1st and 2nd year Resident Physicians in Columbia University Medical Center’s Psychiatry Residency program, and will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary treatment team addressing psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, group therapy, and assessment for a range of other psychiatric interventions including but not limited to ECT. Duties will include daily and weekly unit meetings; acting as overnight and weekend remote attending backup for Resident Physicians every third week; educating Resident Physicians, medical students, and other trainees regarding inpatient psychiatry; managing patient care and medical concerns alongside the Director of Medical Services; and upholding the facility’s mission by fostering the inclusion of all voices in treatment planning, especially the voices of patients.NOTE: 1. In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.2. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.3. License and Certification: Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.
