Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Third Party Risk Management Oversight Group, a function committed to providing Wells Fargo with world-class oversight of a global Third Party risk portfolio. This group continues to build out a world-class risk management capability.

The Operational Risk Officer of Third Party Risk Performance Oversight will join a high caliber Third Party Risk Management Oversight team challenging Wells Fargo’s efforts to mitigate Third Party Operational Risk. This team is responsible for maintaining a strong operational risk culture, formulating risk appetite and tolerances, and for maintaining a program to identify, assess, measure, monitor, control and report on the enterprise third party operational risks. Consistent with other programs in Corporate Risk, this program provides independent risk management oversight (Second Line of Defense) to ensure an independent, integrated, and holistic view of Wells Fargo third party risks.

With knowledge of global third party guidance this individual contributor role will engage business and risk resources within the front line and across the firm to influence and challenge third party risk management activities and decisions. This role will maintain and mature third party independent risk management coverage of monitoring plans, reviews and assessments, control evaluations and testing activities spanning across Wells Fargo business groups and enterprise functions. This individual is also expected to build a broad range of professional relationships and effectively work with key stakeholders across the enterprise. This role will contribute to providing independent oversight of the global third party portfolio and the frontline third party program by monitoring front line end-to-end third party risk management lifecycle.

Monitoring of Operational Third Party Risk

  • Building strategies and routines to identifying and reporting emerging third party risks.

  • Creating and maturing coverage routines in the oversight and monitoring of the global third party portfolio and efficacy of the frontline third party risk management program.

  • Understanding and assessing control effectiveness of front line third party controls.

  • Reviewing and challenging systemic and manual processes, identifying and assessing risk, proposing new or evaluating existing controls for effectiveness. The individual’s ability to de-engineering/re-engineering processes are needed to drive potential solutions.

  • Identifying and escalating potential areas of emerging risks and designing strategies for mitigating these risks. The candidate’s ability to critically think and communicate through strong and compelling oral and written communications will be instrumental to achieve success.

  • Interpreting risk metrics to measure control effectiveness. Achievement of this responsibility will leverage the individual’s strong analytical skills that help frontline teams risk based solutions towards the underlying issues which need to be resolved.

  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with the lines of business, the Third Party Center of Excellence, stakeholder relations, operational risk and compliance peers.

Reporting

  • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative risk second line of defense third party risk reporting

  • Prepare executive and committee level third party risk monitoring, oversight, assessments, targeted reviews, testing and targeted control evaluation reports

  • Leverage existing tools and templates to write results of the monitoring and oversight

  • Prepare regulatory and audit responses

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
