Position Summary

This Manager of New Business Projects, OGC and NBAC will support the Office of the General Counsel ("OGC") and the New Business Acceptance Committee ("NBAC"), a partner-led key strategic decision-making body which manages business conflicts and monitors client intake associated risks for the Firm. The position will analyze business risks and provide project management capabilities to support the NBAC mandate and new business initiatives within the OGC

The role will support the work of the OGC and the NBAC and will require frequent interaction with members of other Firm Committees and Business Services teams as well as partners of the Firm.

The position will involve significant exposure to the Firm's senior leadership. It is anticipated that the duties and accountabilities of the role will expand and evolve over time.

Duties and Accountabilities1

  • Support the OGC on new business initiatives
  • Work closely with the Office of the General Counsel, Head of Strategic Projects on tracking and reporting to OGC leadership and Firm management on relevant projects
  • Utilize MS Teams and Office 365 platforms in project management methods, communications with team members and stakeholders and reporting
  • Facilitate the NBAC decision making process:
    • Coordinate and facilitate committee meetings, record and circulate meeting notes, document outcomes, prepare the meeting agenda, and work with stakeholders to address follow on actions
    • Gather background information and manage NBAC approvals of certain new business matters
  • Run analysis and deliver insight to support the remit of the NBAC. Example activities include:
    • Monitor the outcome of NBAC decisions
    • Run financial metrics and provide preliminary profitability analysis
    • Monitor and address low value, low profitability clients
    • Incorporate Firm and practice group strategy into NBAC decision making
    • Facilitate NBAC discussion on new Firm policies
    • Investigate the root causes of inadequate compliance with Firm guidelines and work with senior leaders to overcome these challenges
  • Manage distinct projects to support the NBAC and OGC mandate
    • Prepare process maps and design and implement project plans
    • Devise training and implementation plans related to policy changes
  • Design methodologies to monitor and report on gaps in compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Solid organization and prioritization skills, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in comprehending and complying with instructions; interpreting them to produce quality work product and keep internal stakeholders apprised of the status of work and any problems with systems or programs.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to engage a senior level audience
  • Demonstrated track record of working with senior stakeholders
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changes in protocols and procedures.
  • Must be flexible with work hours based on needs of the Firm.

Experience and Education

  • A bachelor's degree is required
  • Minimum of 4 years of project or practice management in a law firm or professional services firm environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in legal operations, risk and compliance, financial reporting would be beneficial, though not required
  • Experience with other tools and systems such as Power BI and SharePoint would be beneficial, though not required
