The General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) is seeking a Manager & Counsel to provide legal support to the U.S. Consumer Products and Services (CPS) business with a focus on consumer credit cards. The position will work closely with business clients and legal professionals in the GCO to provide legal advice on a wide range of issues, including card marketing and acquisition, card member agreements and other legal disclosures, new product development, reward programs, and regulatory compliance.

Here’s just some of what you’ll do in this role:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance to business colleagues responsible for consumer lending, cobrand, and premium cards on a range of matters including card marketing, card member communications, product development, and rewards programs

  • Advise on card product and benefit design working with the Card product teams

  • Review marketing claims and liaise with other stakeholders (such as Compliance, Ad Law, product teams)

  • Review Card Member communications in connection with changes such as fee increases, benefit changes/removal

  • Develop regulatory subject matter expertise across U.S. consumer finance regulations, with a particular emphasis on Truth in Lending Act and UDAAP

  • Participate as part of a team of seasoned attorneys and legal managers, offering thought leadership for practice group and GCO-wide projects

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree & J.D.

  • Admitted to New York Bar or eligibility to do so

  • 3 years of relevant legal experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions to client issues

  • Ability to interpret and apply law and regulation in a practical, hands-on, common-sense manner

  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively, in both written and oral format

  • Ability to build relationships and partner with others to drive results

  • Capacity to be agile and pivot appropriately when challenged with new information or evolving circumstances

  • Strong process-management skills and ability to help identify and implement improvements in work process to enhance efficiency and productivity.

  • Experience applying UDAAP and the Truth in Lending Act is a plus

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
