The Opportunity

We are seeking a Legal Technology Project Coordinator to join our Firm. This position will be based in our New York office, but will require regular travel to the Firm's Wilmington, Delaware office. This position has a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

As the Legal Technology Project Coordinator you will:

  • Advise attorneys, paralegals and clients on electronic discovery best practices and consult on processes from collection through post-production tasks.
  • Liaise with internal case teams, clients, vendors and the Legal Technology staff to support matters throughout all phases of discovery and offer recommendations about design, processes and workflows, including drafting project specifications for vendors.
  • Maintain awareness of latest electronic discovery trends and be able to assess any impact they may have on Legal Technology workflows.
  • Clearly articulate potential risks and provide possible solutions regarding collection, processing, review and production. Identify issues to escalate to Legal Technology management team.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Firm's litigation support software as it pertains to hosting document reviews, preparing productions and performing advanced searches.
  • Assist with vendor selection and engagement process in consultation with Legal Technology management and attorneys to ensure the Firm's vendor engagement procedures are followed including execution of agreements and conducting of security assessments.
  • Manage basic aspects of collection, including identification of all sources and locations of electronically stored information.
  • Manage all aspects of data processing, including coordinating with processing vendors, tracking custodians reviewing search terms, providing date ranges, determining optimal deduplication methods and troubleshooting processing issues. Communicate detailed processing specifications and instructions to the vendor.
  • Manage all aspects of review, including set-up and design of the review database; access permissions, managed review providers and third party vendors; and development of a workflow.
  • Manage all aspects of document production preparation, including reviewing production specifications with attorneys for best practices and strategic considerations; insuring productions are consistent and conform to any subpoenas, ESI protocols, joint defense agreements, etc.; running full quality control checks against any proposed production sets in coordination with the Paralegal Discovery Team and working with attorneys to resolve any issues found; and coordinating timing and technical resources with Legal Technology Data Specialists to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Conduct quality check on final production volumes and media, including productions prepared by external vendors.
  • Manage all aspects of post-production database work, including advising case teams on using databases to create privilege logs, setting up process for deposition/interview preparation, set up process for identifying and reviewing potential trial exhibits including coordination with trial presentation personnel/vendor.
  • Effectively communicate and provide end-user support and customer service to partners, co-counsel, case teams and clients throughout all phases of litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Track progress of projects by maintaining and updating project files and documentation. Update internal case teams and clients as needed.
  • Review and verify vendor invoices to ensure costs are consistent with the work performed and with relevant matter budgets.
  • Work with Legal Technology management to develop recommendations, proposals, plans, cost estimates, budgets, procedures and specifications for new matters.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.
  • Manage Firm resources responsibly.
  • Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER JOB-RELATED COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Understanding of all aspects of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and of electronic discovery best practices, trends and techniques
  • Understanding of analytics software, technology assisted review and workflows
  • Familiarity with various electronic discovery platforms, including Relativity
  • Understanding of basic litigation processes, including trial procedures
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work utilizing appropriate resources
  • Ability to provide upper-margin customer service
  • Ability to clearly articulate and document decisions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in a litigation environment using technology to support litigation efforts, with specific emphasis on all phases of electronic discovery, as well as coding, scanning, document management and trials
  • Minimum of five years' related law firm or related experience including planning and managing legal technology projects

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Salary Details

$110,000 - $120,000
