Book of the Month Lead Copywriter in New York, New York

Summary:  

Book of the Month is seeking a Lead Copywriter to spearhead the creation of a broad variety of creative work needed to support the BOTM business. A successful candidate will enjoy writing awesome copy on a daily basis with a quick turnaround time in a collaborative and iterative fashion. BOTM is a “words business” so the majority of our creative work starts with copy, making this an important and foundational role for the creative team. Our goal is that over time, this person will grow into a creative leadership role at the company. 

What You’ll Do…  

  • Conceptualize, write and create original, non-boring copy for digital and social platforms and campaigns. 

  • Adhere to our brand voice and style guidelines while adopting it for various applications. 

  • Present copy concepts that are rooted in insightful and strategic thinking. 

  • Possess and demonstrate a sense of humor in your tone while still maintaining a sense of our brand voice. 

  • Collaborate with a team of in-house, and freelance designers to conceptualize and execute cross-channel brand campaigns. 

    About You...

  • At least 3+ years working as a Copywriter at an agency under a proven and talented Copywriter who helped you learn your craft. 

  • Deep knowledge of relevant and exciting brands in the space.

  • Stays on the pulse and possesses good judgment on taste.

  • Fiction reader and strong researcher.

  • Self-starter, energetic, curious. A forever student mentality. You actively study your craft and actively seek to improve. 

  • Experience writing jokes, writing within a range of POVs, and working on storyboarding and campaigns.

  • Experience ideating and conceptualizing effective, creative copy that is rooted in business objectives, aligned with a brand. 

  • Experience working collaboratively, quickly and under pressure, while maintaining a high quality of organized output.  

  • Impeccable grammar and technical writing skills.

  • Is invigorated by dynamic change. 

  • Has experience working cross-functionally (client or stakeholders) to complete brief requests.

    Base salary range: $100,000 - $140,000
