Company: Spotify USA, Inc.Company HQ: 4 World Trade Center, 150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007Location: Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed from anywhere within the Eastern Time Zone region of the U.S.Job Title: Insights Manager / Senior Data ScientistJob Duties: Provide end-to-end support in personalization features development, from goal setting and planning, experimentation, to launch performance insights and recommendations optimization. Work closely with cross-functional teams of data scientists, user researchers, machine learning engineers, product managers, engineering managers, and designers to develop and improve the personalized product offering by designing and implementing statistical models, algorithms, and machine learning techniques. Perform analyses on large sets of data to extract actionable insights that will drive product decisions, e.g. highlighting trends, user behavior changes, and sizing product opportunities. Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and present them to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Utilize expertise in finance or economics to understand business challenges, develop financial metrics, and inform business decisions. Maintain a deep understanding of Spotify’s business model, its revenue streams, and profit margins, to understand potential impact on content personalization and machine learning techniques. Develop and maintain robust data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency. Support running online experiments, setting the right success metrics, running statistical tests, and performing in-depth analyses of users’ behavior in testing groups. Establish best practices in online experimentation, educating other data scientists and cross-functional teams about the most effective and statistically correct experimentational design. Mentor and train junior data scientists and contribute to the development of a strong data science community within the company. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, finance, and economics, and contribute to the knowledge-sharing culture within the team. *Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed from anywhere within the Eastern Time Zone region of the U.S.Job requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, or a related quantitative subject area and six (6) years of experience in data science, machine learning or a related role OR a Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Economics, or a related quantitative subject area and four (4) years of experience in data science, machine learning or a related role. Must have six (6) years (or 4 with Master’s) of experience with: analysis and modeling of big data using SQL/BigQuery; python or R including experience in data mining and manipulation of big data to extract valuable insights about user behavior; performing user behavior analyses of consumer-facing digital products, like mobile applications, and delivering actionable business recommendations; building strong, influential relationships with colleagues and partners, with demonstrated success in delivering impactful insights to executives; and communicating technical work to non-technical audiences. Must have five (5) years (or 3 with Master’s) of experience with: designing, running, and analyzing online experiments on a large user base, including accepting or rejecting hypotheses and applying statistical tests; crafting actionable success metrics that are sensitive in experiments and reflect business value; data visualization tools like Tableau and QlikSence; mentoring data scientists, helping them grow their technical and soft skills, as well as progress in their career; and working in cross-functional teams (data scientists, user researchers, machine learning engineers, product managers, engineering managers, designers). Must have four (4) years (or 2 with Master’s) of experience with: collaborating with machine learning engineers, supporting with feature selections, targets setting, models development, test designing, and hypotheses testing; and statistical experience developing machine learning models and evaluating their performance.
