The Office of Human Resources (OHR) supports a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive employee community at the Graduate Center and at its affiliated CUNY colleges and professional schools, which include Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism and Macaulay Honors College.

The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Generalist for Instructional and Non-Instructional staff.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates the process involved with the entire life cycle of Instructional/Non-Instructional staff for three business units (Graduate Center, Graduate School of Journalism, Macaulay Honors College) as well as the Advanced Science Research Center.

  • Conducts new hire orientation sessions, including benefits and time/leave components.

  • Responds to employment, payroll and benefits-related inquiries.

  • Responsible for performance evaluation dissemination, tracking and review.

  • Under the direction of the HR Generalist, responsible for CUNYfirst entries related to appointments, reappointments, step increases, assignment differential processing for teaching and non-teaching instructional staff.

  • Assists with the review of HR records to determine 13.3b eligibility status.

  • Responds to inquiries from CUNY central and senior administration of the GC, MHC, SOJ and the ASRC.

  • Maintains and updates tracking systems to ensure effective and efficient management of Instructional/Non-Instructional employee population.

  • Supervises support staff as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification.

All full-time and part-time CUNY staff are expected to work in-person at their campus office 70% of their work time. For full-time staff, this is equivalent to 7 out of 10 days of in-person work in a two-week period (e.g., 7 days in-person, 3 days remote). Remote days must be pre-approved by the direct supervisor. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

  • Strong working knowledge of CUNYfirst as it relates to human resources

  • Previous experience with collective bargaining agreements and CUNY's rules and regulations

  • Strong attention to details

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Highly motivated with an ability to work independently, prioritize workload and efficiently complete tasks in a highly transactional environment.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.

  • Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources

  • Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness

  • Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries

  • Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$54,268 - $60,394. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
