About the Team


The Technology Strategy team is responsible for driving strategic architecture engagements at College Board. There are (5) Software Engineers within the team responsible for development of the department's mission-critical product line.


About the Opportunity


As a Full-Stack Software Engineer within the Technology Strategy team, you will apply your strong, yet evolving competence in programming languages and other tools to build software products and data pipelines, using an array of diverse technologies. Your technical aptitude and solid communication skills will enable you to write, test, and document code according to College Board technology standards and practices. Your analytical skills and adeptness in critical thinking will aid you as you participate in software design of features and attempt to solve and identify issues where possible, seeking help as needed. Your Agile mindset and collaborative nature will allow you to contribute greatly to the team's activities, issue resolution and strategies to develop products that support College Board's business needs.


In the role, you will:


+ Develop full-stack solutions and continuous delivery frameworks that improve the ability of the College Board IT delivery teams to efficiently deliver quality solutions.


+ Work with agile teams to refine requirements and identify areas for enhancement.


+ Work with other team members to develop a complete and integrated solution, and to deliver quality software and required documentation on time.


+ Ensure that completed code meets all functionality and acceptance criteria described by application experts.


+ Provide story point estimates for enhancements and new features.


+ Develop and execute Test Driven Development tests, integration tests, unit tests, and automated tests.


+ Monitor and maintain production systems.


+ Actively participate in code, test, and documentation peer reviews.


+ Provide guidance on full life cycle of cloud-based solutions including tools, technologies, and best practices for development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud hosted services.


+ Evaluate and evolve your understanding of emerging technologies and trends for DevOps and Continuous Delivery automation within cloud infrastructures.


About You


You have:


+ 2+ years demonstrated experience with full-stack development in a production environment.


+ 2+ years of experience using JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, React, or similar.


+ Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud supported programming languages like Node.js, Java, or Python development.


+ Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, SNS/SQS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, EC2, RDS and DynamoDB, AWS CLI.


+ Fluency with CI/CD toolsets such as: CloudFormation, BitBucket, CICD Pipeline, Jenkins, etc.


+ Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, systems engineering, or comparable practical experience.


+ Experience creating and using REST APIs to support dynamic UIs preferred.


+ Experience writing automated tests for JavaScript and UI components preferred.


+ Ability to use or learn: KMS, ALB/ELB, Route 53, VPC.


+ Working knowledge of distributed architectural design patterns preferred.


+ Experience in an Agile Full Life Cycle development environment preferred.


+ Experience with microservices development preferred.


+ Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.


+ Ability to handle m ultiple projects and assignments simultaneously and effectively in a cross-functional team environment.


+ Customer satisfaction orientation.


+ Willingness/ability to work off-shifts (evening, night-time, weekend).
