The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Financial Coordinator will report to the Manager of Capital Finance as part of the Capital Finance group within Columbia University Facilities and Operations (CUFO). This group is responsible for various financial reporting and controls for all capital projects. The incumbent will assist in monitoring, reporting, and controlling the five-year rolling capital plan for the Academic SOGR portfolio. Their responsibilities will include utilizing information from the University's financial accounting systems and Facilities' project management system, databases, and spreadsheets to reconcile project financial data and complete variance analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting: Utilize information from the University financial accounting systems and Facilities' project management system, databases, and spreadsheets to assemble financial data for financial reports distributed to management, Assist with updating financial reports on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis as requested by management, Assist with updating and developing the 5-year capital plan for Academic SOGR.
  • Financial Approval: Providing final approval for financial transactions.
  • Condition Assessment Database: Assist with updating and maintaining the condition assessment database based on the defined parameters.
  • Project Closeout and Creation: Work with project managers to close out capital projects from a financial perspective, and assist with the review and creation of capital projects.
  • Reconciliation: Reconciliation of capital expenses to ensure data integrity.
  • Additional responsibilities will include:

    • Assemble financial data for financial reports distributed to management.

    • Work with project managers to close out capital projects from a financial perspective.

    • Report the breakdown by component by project to management for depreciation purposes.

    • Assist with updating financial reports on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis as requested by management.

    • Provide final approval of financial transactions within a low dollar threshold.

    • Assist with updating and maintaining the condition assessment database based on the defined parameters.

    • Assist with the review and creation of capital projects.

    • Reconciliation of capital expenses to ensure data integrity.

    • Assist with updating and developing the 5-year capital plan for Academic SOGR and perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent, plus a minimum of 0-2 years related experience required including experience or major in finance, budgeting and/or accounting with advanced Excel and statistical analysis skills.
  • Additional required qualifications: exceptional customer service skills, strong organizational skills, the ability to follow through with assigned tasks efficiently and accurately, the ability to exercise solid judgment and establish priorities for workload, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
