Location: 1114 Avenue of the Americas, 43rd Floor, New York, NY 10036Position Title: Expert Senior Manager, Innovation (NY-ESMI-2024A(2)i) Job Description:The Expert Senior Manager, Innovation is responsible for delivering Innovation & Design (I&D) contribution to clients successfully. Accountable for Innovation & Design success to ensure high impact results. Broker Innovation & Design capabilities with Bain case team and client team to deliver on business need; serve as a bridge on ways of working between general strategy consultants and experts. Effectively collaborate and co-create with multiple stakeholders to drive results (e.g., internal practice teams, experts, outside partners, 3rd party vendors). Create promoters for Bain and for Innovation & Design at all levels of the client; create reference-able results stories & experiences. Run the process of venture build, experience design, and product development from ideation to launch, and manage execution of solutions. Run design sprints, commercial analysis, entrepreneurial execution methods (build, measure, learn). Own seamless relationship with case team: effectively manage Innovation & Design’s projects and team processes (e.g., work planning, product/experience redesign opportunity identification, product plan development, test design and delivery). Run an integrated Innovation & Design processes to tie together each area of core competency (e.g., user testing, ideation workshops, product design, software development). Lead communications and process which demands heavy collaboration with key stakeholders. Partner with design and development leads on client solutions, which requires comfort & facility with modern design & development principles. Run cross-functional design and development efforts in Scrum. Understand the solution architecture for development projects and work with lead engineers to mobilize the team to build software. Play an active role in recruiting, onboarding, and integration of new talent. Invest in global team building (e.g., cross region experience sharing). Serve as a mentor and coach for members of the design and development labs. Build capabilities and skills of the Innovation & Design team, Bain case teams, and client teams. Build the Innovation & Design knowledge base by capturing learnings from client engagements. Use client and case team experiences to codify Innovation & Design’s ‘playbook’ and strengthen our value proposition. Embrace new challenges and opportunities to expand expertise that will enhance overall Innovation & Design capabilities. Define & reiterate on a commercially relevant/thought leading product offering & approach. Identify and nurture opportunities to teach and transfer knowledge, expertise, and capabilities to Bain teams and client teams. Disseminate and deploy Innovation & Design internally with positive impact. Inspire, teach, and collaborate with case teams as we work in a hybrid team configuration. Support positioning of Innovation & Design internally and build awareness of value proposition. Help to build and scale a new business, including Ops, Talent, and Systems. Commercialize Innovation & Design’s offering by participating in proposal development. Represent Bain/I&D as an expert in sell and conversion situations, speaking fluently to strategic, technical, and design aspects of pitch. Help to achieve pricing realization for Innovation & Design. Enhance Innovation & Design’s brand through external reputation building and marketing efforts. Invest in special initiatives and projects that help us scale the function (ops/systems). Position is in a fixed location based in the New York, NY office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed up to 40% of the time. International and domestic travel required up to 40% of the time. Overnight travel may be required.Job Requirements:Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience working in startups and other entrepreneurial environments.Experience must include:•Knowledge of design thinking principles and leading or facilitating workshops to cultivate design thinking innovation process.•Knowledge of lean startup methodology.•Agile project management experience and familiarity with Scrum.•Technical product management experience and track record of managing ideation to launch of software, enterprise solutions, services, mobile/web apps, or other products.•Managing cross functional/inter-disciplinary teams including product designers, software engineers, and data engineers.•Managing and aligning a team of multiple stakeholders including expert practitioners, client teams, case teams, third-party vendors, and other collaborators.Salary: $222,000 - $237,000/year. In New York City, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $222,000 - $237,000/year, placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level.
