Location: 1114 Avenue of the Americas, 43rd Floor, New York, NY 10036Position Title: Expert Manager, Innovation (NY-EMI-2024A(2)i)Job Description:Support and help oversee product development from ideation to design to launch, in collaboration with designers, engineers, designers, and innovation experts. Understand and match user needs with client/business needs to guide designers and engineers toward the right product development. Play a key role in complex cross-functional process management and project delivery to ensure that Innovation & Design delivers to the client successfully. Ensure that Innovation & Design is successful at delivering high impact results. Coordinate cross functional project and team workstreams; help identify, prioritize, and execute on highest value add activities. Consistently help build alignment on case priorities and backlog; enable seamless relationship with case team. Effectively collaborate with, co-create with, and influence multiple stakeholders (case team, client team, experts, outside partners). Gather knowledge and data and execute analyses necessary for product direction. Utilize technical and design know-how to collaborate with designers and developers on executing various phases of work, from ideation and design thinking workshops, to user research and software build. Remove impediments that team may be facing by engaging the right people at the right time. Facilitate or run cross-functional design and development efforts in Scrum. Help build capabilities and skills of the Innovation & Design team, Bain case teams, and client teams. Build the Innovation & Design knowledge base by capturing learnings from client engagements. Utilize client and case team experiences to codify Innovation & Design’s ‘playbook’ and strengthen our value proposition. Identify and nurture opportunities to teach and transfer knowledge, expertise, and capabilities to Bain teams and client teams. Invest in building an inspired team. Invest in global team building (e.g., cross region experience sharing). Contribute to Innovation & Design culture creation and take on team, office, or firm initiatives. Successfully integrate rotational AC/C team members. Serve as a mentor and coach for members of the design and development labs. Help to build and scale a new business. Position is in a fixed location based in the New York, NY office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed. Travel required up to 20%.Job Requirements:Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience with a top tier consulting firm and/or start up company.Experience must include:•Working in startups and other entrepreneurial environments.•Technical product management experience and history of coordinating ideation to launch of software, enterprise solutions, services, mobile/web apps, or other products.•Experience and knowledge of design thinking principles and leading or facilitating workshops to cultivate design thinking innovation process.•Agile project management experience and familiarity with Scrum.•Experience with modern design and development principles, including:oHuman-centered design principles, including understanding customer needs, journey, pain points, etc.oAgile product development principles, including ability to break down product increments, commit to sprint goals/backlog, and iterating with tech/business on product trade-offs•Ability to coordinate cross functional/inter-disciplinary teams including product designers, software engineers, and data engineers.•Ability to coordinate and align a team of multiple stakeholders including expert practitioners, client teams, case teams, third-party vendors, and other collaborators.Salary: $212,000 - $219,500/year.
