Gannett Fleming Environmental Scientist in New York, New York

What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming's environmental expertise spans a wide range of environmental, site assessment, regulatory compliance, and remediation services. We provide permitting and compliance support through federal, state, and local regulatory experiences. Our remedial services help clients solve existing remediation needs and identify potential hazards before they impact operations and result in adverse environmental conditions. Our full suite of services includes entire project lifecycles, from initial site investigation to final remedial action implementation and compliance audits.

Gannett Fleming is looking for an entry level Environmental Scientist to join our growing Environmental Team in New York City.

The position requires assuming support roles and responsibility for conducting environmental site assessments, regulatory compliance reporting, and contaminated site investigations/remediations for various projects.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute field work programs under direction of senior staff to support environmental studies such as Phase I/II ESAs and compliance and remediation related tasks.
  • Assist Project Manager with developing and managing project reports, records, contracts, bid specifications, charts, tables, etc.
  • Tabulate and review data from environmental sampling events and regulatory compliance tracking.
  • Conduct regulatory reviews and research to help evaluate environmental regulations and applicability to our client's operations.
  • Prepare reports and letters summarizing the data and information reviewed, including development of findings and recommendations.
  • Perform coordination duties to deliver exceptional products on time and within budget.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members.
Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related.
  • 0-2 years of industry experience in environmental science or a related field.
  • Willing to travel to project sites, as required, to complete necessary field investigations and data collection.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Aptitude for project coordination with ability to problem solve in a team-based environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER Trained highly preferred.
