In support of the campus mission and strategic plan, we seek an experienced Registrar to direct the planning, organizing and managing of all activities related to student records, course and classroom scheduling, registration for courses, enrollment verification, graduation certification, web-based attendance and grade systems, and the daily operations of the Registrar’s office.

Reporting to the Dean, or designee, the Registrar will closely collaborate with School-wide stakeholders

Along with the CUNY Title Overview, the Director will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Demonstrate leadership, articulate a vision, effectively manage the Office of the Registrar, and oversee all operational activities associated with the enrollment and registration process.

  • Develop and implement the School’s strategic enrollment goals and play a pivotal role in the maintenance of the University's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; and, adoption of the new ERP.

  • Develop a systematic approach to addressing student issues, including providing recommendations for business process improvement to complex functional issues.

  • Provide oversight for the institution’s student information system and provide strategic operational supervision of student records and registration, documents, and systems support.

  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Financial Aid to provide a seamless student services model and maintain a high level of service.

  • Review and make recommendations for technology hardware and software to enhance staff efficiency, workflow, and service management functions.

  • Supervise and motivate staff members, communicate performance expectations, and conduct performance appraisals on an annual basis.

  • Field and implement new technologies to enhance and upgrade campus registration, institutional data collection and dissemination, and enhance degree audit protocols and processes.

  • Provide data to facilitate decision-making and ensure the proper preparation and dissemination of metrics detailing departmental performance, as needed.

  • Direct a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects and participate in University initiatives and serve/chair various teams, committees, and action groups.

  • Work directly with the Office of the University Registrar to implement and tailor CUNY systems for the benefit of students, faculty and staff.

NOTE:

· Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.

· Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will also have an exceptional ability to navigate complex organizational structures and drive change. Specific experience and attributes will include:

· Master’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field preferred

· Eight years of progressively responsible experience in college/university registration, including computerized registration systems

· Proficiency in national standards for academic records, policy and procedures

· Knowledge of record retention policies, data privacy policies and procedures (FERPA), AACRAO guidelines, and federal and state regulatory requirements

· A thorough understanding of student information systems, such as PeopleSoft, Banner or similar SIS

· Familiarity with issues that impact student success and retention in an urban setting

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a desire for continuous professional development

· Exceptional communication skills with the ability to produce results as an individual contributor and as part of a team

· Experience supervising a diverse staff

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Directs College registration operations and serves as Registrar.

  • Provides leadership in advancing the College's enrollment goals and is responsible for all activities associated with the registration process

  • Develops strategic plan to address student enrollment, registration activities, data collection and dissemination, records confidentiality and degree audit protocol; assures quality of testing and implementation of system updates

  • Oversees a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects; recommends and administers enhanced technology applications to improve processing systems and data integrity

  • Assesses outcomes and formulates responses to meet established goals and objectives; presents performance results data to facilitate executive decision-making

  • Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner to fulfill various legal obligations; maintains audit trails

  • Manages professional and clerical staff as well as department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience between $119,995 - $132,987.
