How you'll make an impact:
In this role as Director of Software Engineering on the Native Client Engineering team, you will lead the team of software engineers who build and maintain our browse, search and discovery features of the SiriusXM app on Apple and Android platforms. You will work closely with the larger Native Client Engineering team to establish the best practices that drive our apps, lead aspects of the design and development of new features for our millions of listeners and provide guidance to the team in creating best in class media applications. Additionally, you will closely collaborate with product management and design teams, engineering teams, business stakeholders and customers to ensure the best implementations and designs.

Lead and grow an efficient and high performing diverse software development organization with a culture of agile development focused on developing best-in-class media entertainment experiences.
Develop and foster an inclusive culture for all our team members.
Ensure high consumer satisfaction through the development and operation of large-scale, high-reliability services.
Collaborate with partners on our product and design teams throughout the SDLC phases including discovery, execution and delivery.
Attract and retain the high-caliber Software Engineering talent needed to deliver against SiriusXM's Product Roadmap through high-performance, on-time and on-budget development programs.
Work closely with your peers and the leaders on your team to ensure technical best practices are constantly developed and enforced.
Work closely with your partners in operations and project management to ensure our SDLC is followed and constantly being improved.

What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience, in lieu of degree.
5+ years managing software engineering teams in a technical organization.
10+ years of native iOS and/or Android development experience.
Experience and proven track record of delivering and maintaining software at scale to millions of active users.
Experience with Kotlin and latest Android features and technologies (Coroutines, flows and channels, Jetpack libraries) and/or Swift and latest Apple features and technologies (SwiftUI, Combine, async / await, SPM).
Experience architecting cross functional solutions across mobile and backend teams.
Experience with Agile software development.
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
Experience with Software tools such as GitHub, Jira, Xcode and/or Android Studio
Experience leading teams that build streaming media (audio or video) applications at scale.
Proven ability to recruit and retain world-class engineers.
Excellent managerial skills and interpersonal skills; effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering, ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
Strong understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and testing.
Has successfully managed relationships with device/OS vendor partners like Apple, Google and Amazon.
Be obsessed with the performance of software.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $153,500 to $260,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
