Director, Plant Operations

Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) is seeking aDirector, Plant Operationsto lead the evolution of our practice plan operations. This critical role aligns with our vision, mission, and values, fostering a culture of collaboration and driving institutional goals forward. Join us!
Role Overview
Reporting to theVP, Plant Operations,the Director will direct planning, administration, management, operation, repair, maintenance, and technical functions of facilities management and operations departments in clinical buildings This crucial leadership role requires a technical individual with exceptional leadership skills.
Key responsibilities include,
Ensure efficient and effective operations, quality service, and customer satisfaction for a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-per-week operation.
Direct engineering and facilities operations activities related to the physical plant, mechanical systems, building infrastructure, and renovation projects.
In collaboration with Design and Construction staff, oversee and participate in engineering design for new construction, infrastructure, and physical plant improvements for the Center's clinical properties.
Interface directly with the Directors' Design and Construction, Housing and Real Estate, Planning and Development, Laboratory Operations, Hospital Administration and their subordinate staffs, on the design, review, management and transition to operations of projects.
Key Qualifications and Knowledge
Expertise in operational engineering of mechanical systems, including management experience, as well as experience in a healthcare environment, research or university.
This position requires the application of specialized knowledge and significant job-related experience to provide guidance and direction to other staff.
FDNY Refrigeration Machine Operator QO1 (can be obtained once hired)
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) (can be obtained once hired)
Knowledge of mechanical codes
Core Skills and Competencies
Managerial skills include proven leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to provide vision and direction on major projects, and self-directed with sound decision-making skills.
Outstanding mechanical ability and aptitude is essential to diagnose complex mechanical problems.
Strong communication skills to lead meetings, participate in departmental meetings, and communicate technical information.
Mathematical skills to prepare cost estimates for jobs; knowledge of sophisticated math (equations, geometry), and analytical skills are also helpful.
Ability to interpret and read diagrams, sketches, operating and maintenance manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications and blueprints.
Analytical skills include the ability to develop, analyze, and draw conclusions from engineering, financial, and statistical data and blueprints.
Able to frame functional impact in operational terms understandable to Center staff, presenting solutions to complex process changes.
Ability to effectively engage individuals at all levels of the organization, including outside contractors and vendors.
Excellent teamwork in and across multiple functions and disciplines.
Additional Information
Location: MSK’s main hospital campus, 1275 York Avenue, Manhattan.
Schedule: 9 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday with flexibility as needed (24/7 operation)
Compensation: $162,000 - $267,200 annually.
Reports To: VP, Plant Operations.
