Director & Counsel, Litigation
General Counsel’s Organization:

Role & Responsibilities:
Managing all aspects of complex consumer and commercial litigation and pre-litigation disputes, including: analysis of disputes, early case assessments, review of pleadings, managing discovery, directing mediation and litigation strategy, preparation and supervision of arbitrations and trials
Leading and managing internal and governmental investigations, including: directing investigation strategy, interviewing witnesses, identifying and reviewing documents; communicating findings and recommending next steps to business lawyers and clients
Advising business clients and legal colleagues on litigation risk, undertaking analysis of litigation-related issues and working to develop root-cause analyses and litigation risk mitigation strategies
Providing privilege and litigation risk mitigation training and advice to business lawyers and clients
Actively managing outside counsel, litigation budgets, invoices, and expenses
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree & J.D.
Qualified to practice law in New York
8 years in general litigation practice, with experience managing commercial litigation and/or investigations
Demonstrated experience leading others, directly or indirectly, and communicating directly with clients
Experience leading witness interviews or taking depositions
Ability to build relationships and partner with others to drive results
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively, in both written and oral format
Preferred qualifications:
Any of the following:
Experience with mass arbitrations, class actions, or government investigations
Knowledge of consumer finance or antitrust laws
Trial experience; first-chair experience a plus
Ability to generate creative and innovative solutions to client issues
Capacity to be agile and pivot appropriately when challenged with new information or evolving circumstances
Experience using Relativity
Qualifications
Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
