Google Data Scientist Manager, Product, LearnX in New York, New York

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience with statistical data analysis.

  • 5 years of experience with data mining, querying, and managing analytical projects.

  • 3 years of experience developing and managing metrics or evaluating programs/products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in scripting or statistical analysis, (e.g., R, Stata, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Strategic Account Specialists (SAS) within an organization.

  • 3 years of experience preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.

  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.

  • 3 years of experience in people management (e.g., supervision, or team lead role).

Data Scientists provide quantitative support, market understanding and a strategic perspective to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.

The LearnX team builds consumer-facing learning features across Search, YouTube, and Gemini, and establishes platform capabilities that other teams can use. The goal of the team is to increase LearnX impact and effectiveness by leveraging Data Science to drive key insights to influence strategy and product decision making.

As the Head of Data Science, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and prioritizing key problems, developing and analyzing critical metrics, and innovating new methodologies and tools to keep pace with accelerating innovation. You will bring technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to guide your team.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Provide analytical thought-leadership through proactive and strategic contributions. Influence stakeholders through effective presentations and written communication.

  • Analyze and optimize metrics to drive insights and improve decision-making processes. Gather data and drive analyses across our multiple surfaces and develop insights.

  • Develop, identify and drive adoption of best practices across product data science teams. Develop approaches to understand user experiences and LearnX performance across Search, YouTube, and Gemini, and new surfaces.

  • Build metrics and data quality strategy and processes to consistently ensure we have the data needed to evaluate our products. Partner with the pedagogy and user research teams to develop a strategy to measure the learning impact of our features and products.

  • Lead a team across multiple time zones. Attract, retain, and develop talent and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
