Employer: New York Life Insurance CompanyJob Title: Corporate Vice President & Actuary (Life Actuarial Analytics)Location: New York, New YorkOffered Wage: $185,910/yearDuties: As a member of the Life Actuarial Analytics team, analyzes the economics and underlying business drivers leveraging actuarial models and financial information to influence the strategic direction for new product development, in-force management, and strategic initiatives and satisfy regulatory requirements. Interfaces with Product Management, Legal, Illustration, and Systems and acts as a valued partner and advisor to multiple business areas while protecting the interest of both policy owners and the company. Collaborates with the company's broader Finance team, including Office of Chief Actuary and Pricing to perform quarterly value of new business (VNB) reporting and annual non-guaranteed elements (NGE) and discipline current scale (DCS) testing; Experience Studies and Underwriting to conduct actuarial analyses in support of key Underwriting initiatives; Product Management to assess Life in-force business management strategies; and Reinsurance to evaluate reinsurance treaties. Prepares actuarial reports to support internal governance committees and external regulators. Education & Experience Requirements:Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience in providing actuarial services for life insurance or annuity products.Or, alternatively:Bachelor's degree (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance and five (5) years of experience in providing actuarial services for life insurance or annuity products.Required Certifications & Skills:· Must possess Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation and be a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). Experience must include 1 year in each of the following skills: 1) Performing pricing analysis to support the Finance department’s understanding of how financial markets drive multiple sources of earnings leveraging Excel, and Prophet or AXIS actuarial software; 2) Generating multiple financial metrics utilizing VBA and Prophet or Axis actuarial software for a large insurance company and clarifying the movement of those metrics and associated financial profitability impacts to senior management leveraging financial statement analysis framework, including sensitivity tests and waterfall analysis; 3) Designing, implementing, and reviewing actuarial models to support financial analysis, assumption testing, and regulatory requirements leveraging Prophet or Axis actuarial software; and, 4) Improving and streamlining existing business procedures for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to increase efficiency and improve understanding of insurance products leveraging VBA and SQL programming languages and R, MATLAB or Python statistical software.
