Job Description

Core Responsibilities
Project Lead responsible for coordinating and developing utility-owned thermal energy network pilot projects with technologies including, but not limited to, the inclusion of boreholes, waste heat recovery, heat pump technology, HVAC equipment and water pumps.
Develop successful utility-owned business model(s) and supportive statewide regulatory framework for future UTENs creation.
Design rates for each pilot project in coordination with Rate Engineering and bill pilot participants accurately and on time.
Develop customer agreement templates by pilot project and customer/thermal energy network provider to include customer protections, thermal energy resource provider commitments, penalties for non-compliance, operations and maintenance, rate and billing, and exit options, in coordination with Customer Operations
Communicate scope and objectives of pilot project(s) to various internal and external stakeholders including senior management, all impacted working groups, Joint Utilities, and policy makers.
Manage regulatory process of future filings including monthly reports, filings, petitions, joint comments, and final engineering design(s) in coordination with Strategic Engagement
Develop relationships with industry experts, external partners, and internal business units to gain buy-in and successfully execute on project design, implementation, and execution.
Develop and forecast budgets and track against forecasted performance of contracted work. Review and process project invoices and contribute to financial reporting.
Provide customer service support on escalated program issues, as necessary.
Represent Con Edison at regulatory bodies, industry conferences, and external stakeholders in the context of thermal energy networks.
Lead benefit-cost analyses and lifecycle cost analysis to determine customer and societal benefit of pilot projects in operation and at scale.
Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or
Master's Degree and 2 years of work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in public policy, law, environmental science or other relevant major and 5-7 years of work experience
Master's Degree in public policy, Engineering, or other technical discipline and 2 years of work experience in utility, clean energy, or sustainability.
Relevant Work Experience
Experience working with and presenting to DPS staff and/or executive stakeholders. Required
Demonstrated project management and/or contract management experience. Required
Experience in planning, managing, coordinating, and implementing projects. Required
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build a consensus through collaboration with various stakeholders. Required
Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to see the big picture while maintaining attention to detail. Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Required
Proven range of presentation skills to various audiences such as customers, teams, executives and/or industry stakeholders. Required
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Required
Ability to collaborate with employees within the team and across the organization at all levels of management. Required
Self-motivated and comfortable working through ambiguity on timelines. Required
3-5 years Experience with new technologies, utility business models, and rate design. Preferred
Experience with thermal energy networks, waste heat recovery, decarbonization, building electrification, and/or renewable energy. Preferred
Experience developing customer agreements, contracts, and terms of service for project/pilot participants. Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Driver's License Required
Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
