Wolters Kluwer Business Intelligence Analyst in New York, New York
The Business Intelligence Analyst works with leaders of the business and others to understand business intelligence needs and help translate them into solutions that empower business teams with actionable information resulting in improved business performance, decision making and customer offerings. May represent the BI organization in multi-function project based business teams documenting requirements and solutions for continuous optimization of business strategies. Helps to address objectives, challenges, identifies opportunities to maximize revenue growth, and support customer retention efforts. Engages in standard data management practices, collection of internal and external data and secondary research, utilizing BI tools and BW architectures to provide state-of-the art dashboards, reporting and capability in an efficient, effective manner. Learns and follows BI team standards, protocol and procedures for maintaining rigorous BI techniques.
Participates in cross functional projects and BI initiatives between business and technical teams; abides by BI team best methods, standards, and capabilities.
Partners with and supports BI leadership and data management team on BW and database requirements based on business needs for reporting and analytics.
Participates in the overall execution (design, development, and testing) of dashboard or report delivery as well as data analysis utilizing Business Intelligence applications.
Contributes to the planning and development of technical platforms to support conceptual and strategic analytics.
Utilizes testing best practices for new or modified dashboards and reports against specifications, test plans and requirements
Complies with defined best practices for documenting and storing data definitions, relationships, linkages and sources.
Demonstrates ability to interpret business processes and strategic initiatives.
Performs research and analysis of data sources to enhance or create new BI capabilities that support business initiatives and efficient processes.
Ensures the design, execution, presentation, and distribution of a BI solution provides actionable insights or data streams that meet functional area goals and objectives as well as end-user expectations.
Prioritizes and supports the execution of strategic analysis reviews consistent with company strategy, understanding of how BI output relates to the work of other teams and the organization itself.
Identifies data discrepancies and root cause; suggests improvements or next steps for resolution.
Contributes to the management of BI team intake. Ensures business partners are communicated to within BI team SLA and actively participates in fulfilling critical business needs.
Consults business leaders on goals and objectives; translates business objective needs into analytical or reporting solutions with BI Team, and frequently interfaces back to business to ensure successful and timely delivery of information.
Communicates analytical findings to business leaders and suggests next steps for future analysis where applicable.
Leads continuous improvement efforts through collaborative and productive interactions with business leaders on an ongoing basis .
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, math, statistics, or equivalent professional experience. Masters or Ph.D preferred.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in business intelligence, data, reporting, or analytics
Experience with or knowledge of advanced technologies (i.e. SQL and business intelligence applications like Power BI
Understands and may need coaching in managing the design and applications of relational concepts of databases/data warehousing for BI applications.
Demonstrates rapid ability to build acumen for qualitative and statistical analysis.
Exhibits aptitude to listen actively, reflect on detail and then summarize input from key stakeholders.
Displays concise and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be comfortable communicating and presenting BI topics and concepts.
Demonstrates project and process management skills, particularly time management.
Generates and communicates opportunities within domain and addresses them with some level of autonomy.
