Description

The Division of Experimental Therapeutics is looking for a motivated and creative Associate Research Scientist to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop novel non-invasive brain stimulation approaches for the treatment of schizophrenia and other severe neuropsychiatric disorders. These studies require a well-developed background in event-related potential and fMRI based research, coupled with expertise in combined eye tracking and EEG recording and personalized high-definition MR-guided electrical field modeling. The successful candidate will also have at least 5 years experience in research focusing on neurocognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia.

Duties:

  • Preparation of human subjects protocols involving ERP, fMRI and non-invasive brain stimulation.
  • Implementation of study procedures and analytic pipelines
  • Independent analysis of EEG and fMRI data sets.
Qualifications

PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in the neurosciences or a related area

Associate research scientist requires a track record of publication and/or presentations at major scientific meetings with regard to neural bases of social cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia and the use of non-invasive brain stimulation targeted at underlying neural pathways.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expertise in neurophysiological data collection and in surface and source-based analysis of neurophysiological data sets.
  • Experience in the design and analysis of fMRI data sets.
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of experiments using combined eye tracking and EEG data and in calculation of fixation-related activity.
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of combined transcranial electrical stimulation approaches and both EEG- and fMRI-based data acquisition, and in MR-guided e-field modeling.
