The Oppurtunity

This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Assistant Professor in Genetic Counseling is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science center's working together with one of the nation's premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Key Responsibilites

  • Prepare for patient appointments, including medical record review.
  • Assist with clinical consultations, draft consultation notes and patient result letters
  • Complete lab requisition forms.
  • Coordinate patient and/or family genetic testing
  • Coordinate specimen send outs and results notifications
  • Attend weekly case conference meetings
  • Participate in specialty clinics, as requested
  • Supervise medical students, rotating residents and genetic counseling students
  • Assist with the orientation of Genetics fellows

Qualifications

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • Must have a Master's deagree
  • Must be Board certified in Genetic Counseling
  • Consistently strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with professionals in other disciplines
  • The ability to create a high-energy results-oriented work environment that encourages colleagues and staff to value each other's contributions and the ability to share and celebrate success with colleagues and staff.
