Job Description
The Assistant Director assists in monitoring the daily operations of the department operations including staff supervision, retention, systems and IT steering, budgetary oversight, materials management, and data management. The Assistant Director develops and implements departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree in Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related field; Master?s Degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience in field health care setting
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agencies (ACHC, URAC, NYSDOH etc)

Responsibilities
Assists the Director in the day-to-day operations of the department. Provides professional and administrative guidance to staff.
Evaluates operations and identifies possible improvements within the department. Consults, advises and informs Director concerning administrative issues, needs and problems.
Plans, organizes and implements services to meet departmental goals. Participates in developing and implementing department wide policies and procedures.
Interviews and recommends hiring of new staff. Assists in departmental orientation, mentoring, and training and probationary and annual evaluations of staff members. Recommends particular recognition, discipline, and, if necessary, discharge of assigned staff members.
Assists in the preparation and planning of budgets to control costs and allocates funds in accordance with departmental functions. Performs regular reconciliations, analysis and justification of cost variances
Recommends and implements cost effective measures in department operations.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with various Hospital departments to facilitate departmental and institutional goals. Maintains communication between governing boards, medical staff, and department heads by meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functioning.
Establishes work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.
Develops and maintains computerized record management systems to store and process data such as personnel activities and information. Produces reports as requested or as necessary.
Maintains the competencies and skills of staff through proper training and development. Identifies ongoing educational needs and assists in staff development programs.
Identifies workflow best practices and prevents inaccurate services from being billed.
Identifies and coordinate implementation of growth opportunities across the department.
Works on highly complex projects in a team environment, actively engaging with clinical and financial team members
Leads and owns business’ physical expansion and relocation projects to grow the system’s footprint in a key service-line
Serves as the primary conduit with key external partners to rapidly develop and enhance the department’s services while maintaining Mount Sinai’s key interests
Directs pharmacy operational and business goals to build and expand the scope and reach of the department by extending and enhancing the range and quality programming that can be delivered
Owns contracting and business development activities to grow the pharmacy’s portfolio and serves as the primary resource for new and continuing agreements
Implements new capstone initiatives to positively disrupt current systems and operations to expand capabilities and reach new opportunities
Works within the department on budget and financial reporting activities to assist in providing accurate information to leadership and help develop projections for future business and programming
Designs and leads program quality monitoring and feedback mechanisms that synthesizes complex performance and productivity metrics to drive decisions
Provides direct and indirect management and supervision of vendor operations and contractual obligations.

Compensation Statement
Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $115494 - $173241 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
