The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThis is a temporary 3-year position, contingent on continued grant funding.Reporting to the co-presidents of the Initiative for Policy Dialogue (IPD), the Assistant Director, Communications of the IPD Financial Architecture Reform Sovereign Debt Sustainability Program will be responsible for the management of communications, research, and publications of the co-presidents for the IPD International Financial Architecture Reform Sovereign Debt Sustainability Program.The co-presidents of IPD have extensive research projects underway in public policy, international affairs, and, more broadly, in economics. IPD aims to bring substance to the policy debate in developing countries by providing and disseminating information and analysis about economic policy alternatives.Responsibilities1. Communicate the work of the project to academic and policy audiences.2. Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with media organizations and other external contacts while proactively staying well-informed of project-related media coverage.3. Manage publications and research related to project.4. Manage uploading all reports and events to the IPD website.5. Manage and monitor social media for all IPD International Financial Architecture Reform Sovereign Debt Sustainability Program-related content and events.6. Manages, leads, and implements strategies to improve the media and online presence of the project.7. Support the Program Director on all communication aspects as needed.8. Prepare all content-related material for the professor for all speaking obligations. This includes coordination with event organizers to ensure complete background information is provided, preparation of PowerPoint presentations and gathering background research needed on conference topics.9. Prepare research and backgrounders, including bios, for the professor's meetings.10. Organize press events and collaborations for the co-presidents as needed and manage all communications related to events.11. Stay informed on the topics that the professor works on and forward major news and writings.12. Perform other related duties for the co-presidents and the IPD International Financial Architecture Reform Sovereign Debt Sustainability Program.Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 2-4 years related work experience required.- Must have excellent communication and analytical skills.- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Excel.- Must have a keen attention to detail and be deadline oriented.- Must be a team player who takes initiative, uses discretion, can establish priorities, has good independent judgment and ability to work with limited supervision.- Must be able to meet deadlines, prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously, and effectively communicate with a variety of personalities inside and outside the university.Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree- Experience in editing is a plus.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.
