Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. Program Description:Goddard Riverside’s Manhattanville (MNVL) Resource Center is a social service hub located in West Harlem in the Manhattanville NYCHA development, and which exclusively serves its residents. The MNVL Resource Center helps low-income individuals and families access and receive entitlements, benefits and resources. The MNVL Resource Center also offers an array of services including but not limited to, benefits screening, financial counseling, legal consultation and referrals to support services in the community and citywide.

Position Summary:The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Program Director and MNVL Resource Center staff.

Schedule:Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Salary Range:$37,687.53 - $42,398.47

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties

Role, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties:

  • Greet and announce clients, visitors and guests while maintaining front desk coverage

  • Perform clerical duties as assigned by Program Director

  • Answer general questions related to program services, with accurate information

  • Maintain calendars for scheduling of clients’ appointments

  • Review database for client information prior to visits with service providers

  • Use computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software to prepare reports, memos, and documents

  • Monitor inventory of office supplies

  • Accept and sign for deliveries

  • Attend weekly supervision, staff meetings and training programs as needed; write up and distribute meeting minutes.

  • Code and submit financial material according to established fiscal procedures

  • Assist in coordination of the program interns’ daily activities, schedule and maintain interns’ calendar of events for various projects needed to complete their internship

  • Ability to communicate information clearly, correctly and professionally, both verbal and written

  • Able to maintain an organized and professional reception area

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, Associates or some college preferred

  • Must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills

  • Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task

Computer skills: to perform this job successfully, an individual should have/be:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Able to use or learn electronic databases such as Intacct, Single Stop or any additional software

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent computer use

  • Ability to lift 30lbs

Work Environment

  • Work site is located in West Harlem in the Manhattanville NYCHA development

  • Weekly onsite work expected
