The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Adjunct Assistant Professor in New York, New York

The Institute of Human Nutrition (IHN) is seeking to hire an Adjunct Assistant Professor or part-time Associate for the Spring and/or Fall semesters. IHN provides outstanding academic and professional education in human nutrition with the goal of advancing knowledge of nutrition's role in health and disease.

The schedule for this positon will be Monday - Friday, 2 to 3 days out of the week.

Academic Responsibilities

  1. Course Director for Biochemical and Physiological Principles of Nutrition II
  2. Attendance at all MS Faculty Meetings (1 per month), MS Orientation, MS Program Activities and Seminars, MS Class Day
  3. Weekly Office Hours and Review Sessions as needed

Service

  1. University and public service activities are also expected of faculty and you be invited to participate in divisional, department, and/or medical school committees
  2. Serve as an advisor to MS students, as needed
  3. Serve as a MS thesis advisor for any MS student that is required to switch to a literature review-based thesis

Communication

  1. Timely response to all MS program and IHN requests via email (including, but not limited to, syllabi deadlines, grade requests, and other information of students)

MS Program/IHN Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to learn best practices in teaching
  2. Work with MS faculty to develop list of emerging topics in Nutrition to incorporate into courses and seminars
  3. Attendance at IHN Faculty Meetings, IHN Seminars, IHN Retreat
  4. Participate in IHN CME development and teaching as requested

Scholarly Activity

  1. Participation in Education Scholarship as requested
