Job Information

Octagon, Inc. Account Director, Client Experience in New York, New York

One of the most exciting wonders in the automotive business is an automaker's "proving ground" - the location where development, testing and validation happens. It's a campus where engineers, designers and executives test and evaluate their vehicles; it is where new vehicles are put through their paces; where photography and video of future vehicles takes place and where media and guests are hosted for events. This campus covers more than 4,000 acres, has more than 4,500 staff and 142 buildings.

We're looking for a candidate who has two distinct skills to support this campus.

  1. A strong capability for multiple event coordination, and a well-honed ability to work with partners across the enterprise to make any event successful. Prompt, kind and thorough responses and coordination across a multitude of stakeholders is required. A willingness to make things happen and ability to say "no" kindly when required are two hallmarks of the right candidate. The candidate represents the entire campus, campus leadership, the GM Comms function and the agency in reputation. This is a high-visibility role. There is an expectation the candidate is a self "solver" and will reach out to the right parties and leaders to find solutions. We're looking for a cool-headed, organized, steady hand to fill this role.
  2. Writing - whether it's newsletters, campus-wide communications, internal communications missives, safety bulletins, or PPT slides. A command of AP style, and clear, succinct writing is a must. Writing samples are required.

The candidate has exposure to the top levels of this OEM leadership, event companies, film crews, media events, communications leadership and more. The ability to communicate concisely, multi-task and be known for quick responsiveness is part and parcel to this job. Exposure to highly-confidential information means this role is built on one of trust. Occasional weekend work is required. The job requires maturity, previous experience and an ability to work with a variety of leaders. Curiosity about the client's business priorities and the industry overall is needed.
