Description
Our client, a prestigious non-profit that was established to advance the civil and human rights of the Jewish people and promote justice for all, is seeking an experienced and talented Litigation Paralegal to join its growing NYC team! The organization engages in research, education and legal advocacy to combat the resurgence of anti-Semitism on college and university campuses, in the workplace, and elsewhere. Responsibilities:
• Responsibilities will include document organization, review all relevant pleadings and documents and entering/updating events in relevant database; file maintenance; preparation for depositions and trials; and typing, formatting, and proofreading a variety of legal correspondence, briefs, motions, and pleadings
• Cite-check, proofread, and Bluebook legal documents
• Conduct investigative research to gather relevant information for case preparation
• Summarize transcripts from depositions, hearings, and other proceedings
• Drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court
• Coordinate and summarize depositions
• Conduct legal research and factual investigation
• Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses / prepare legal documents and draft communication for supervising lawyer
• Perform legal research and collect and summarize relevant case information
Requirements
Qualifications
• The successful candidate will have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant legal or law office experience
• Bachelor's degree or certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal program desired
• Ability to complete assigned tasks with attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to assist attorneys in document review and all aspects of case preparation
• Proficient with cite checking, blue booking, and legal editing
• Proficient with electronic court filing systems in the federal courts
• Experience conducting research, organizing information, and editing documents
• Demonstrate excellent communication, grammar, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Previous trial experience is preferred
