Finance, Accounting, Data & Analytics, Business Operations, Legal

Currently 3 direct reports, 6 indirect reports

 

Role Location:

This role is based in New York City with 3-4 days in office. 

 

The Role:

We’re seeking an operationally rooted finance leader with a demonstrated track record in the consumer retail space. This position entails dual responsibilities overseeing both the financial and operational aspects of Leap. You will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction and long-term growth plans of the organization, ensuring financial stability, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth, while delivering against short-term financial goals. Working closely with the CEO, you will provide leadership, guidance, and expertise to drive the overall success of the company, creating leverage through operational efficiencies and ensuring sustainability.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Financial Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy: Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in line with overall business objectives and growth targets, providing strategic financial guidance to the executive team and insights on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling processes to support decision-making and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.

  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversee financial reporting processes, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Capital Management: Manage capital structure, funding strategies, cash flow, and investments to support growth initiatives, optimize financial resources, and maximize shareholder value.

  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies and internal controls to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, safeguarding the company’s assets and maintaining financial stability during periods of rapid growth.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal regulations, audits, ethics, and industry standards.

  • Lender and Investor Relations: Manage relationships with lenders and financial institutions to support capital needs, and lead investor relations activities, including capital fundraising efforts and investor communications.

    Operational Responsibilities

  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee day-to-day operations to optimize efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity across all functions.

  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence by identifying areas for improvement and implementing processes to optimize efficiency and scalability.

  • Scalability: Develop and implement scalable processes and systems to support rapid company growth while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to safeguard the company’s operations and reputation.

  • Performance Management: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor performance, track results, and drive continuous improvement.

    Team & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the company’s strategic vision, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth targets.

  • Team Leadership: Provide mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities to the finance and operations teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with senior management on capital formation strategies and the development and execution of strategic plans to drive growth and profitability, and manage communication and relationships with the Board of Directors.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster collaboration and communication between departments to promote a cohesive and agile operating environment and drive synergy across the organization.

  • Continuous Improvement: Establish strong relationships across the organization and foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence.

     

    Outcomes & Measures of Success:

  • Implementation of strategic initiatives resulting in measurable growth metrics, such as increased revenue and profitability

  • Streamlined processes leading to improved efficiency, productivity and return on investments

  • Enhanced board satisfaction and engagement

  • Successful capital raising initiatives and positive investor sentiment

  • Successful execution of capital formation strategies resulting in adequate funding for growth initiatives and favorable terms.

  • Identification and implementation of strategic opportunities leading to measurable growth

     

    Candidate Qualifications

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior finance or operational leadership role, such as CFO or VP of Finance, within the consumer retail space.

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field; MBA is strongly preferred.

  • Proven track record of supporting hyper-growth companies and driving financial success through strategic planning, analysis, and decision-making.

  • Strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and business acumen, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization and effectively collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of technology trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to drive operational strategies and decision-making.

  • Exceptional strategic planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive operational initiatives that align with long-term business goals.

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

     

    Salary Range Transparency

    A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $225,000 - $285,000. All corporate roles are eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level and experience.
