Primary Function:

To coordinate the maintenance, repair and alteration of waste and water systems in assigned buildings

Job Duties and Tasks:

  1. Maintains, repairs, inspects and monitors waste and water systems

  2. Performs inspections and coordinates the maintenance to plumbing systems.

  3. Performs retrofit plumbing projects and soldering, braising and pipefitting as required

  4. Repairs and tests hydrants, sprinkler systems, cross connecting devices, macerators and septic fields

  5. Repairs and maintains gas appliances such as furnaces and hot water tanks and ensures required permits are in place

  6. Provides estimates for plumbing projects

  7. Assists with developing long range maintenance plans and provides input into budget process

  8. Prepares Request for Service and Request for Quotation documents and responds to client requests

  9. Selects and administers contracts including monitoring and certifying performance

Other related duties

  1. Assists coworkers and staff as required

  2. Coordinates fabric maintenance and repairs as required

  3. Purchases goods and materials and signs off invoices

  4. Works as a team leader to coordinate and assign tasks as required

  5. Conducts training on W.H.M.I.S., fire and safety, and confined space procedures as required

Provides direction or instruction to coworkers or contractors

Physical Assets / Information Management:

Responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair and alteration of waste and water systems. Operates Corporate Vehicle. Uses and maintains hand and power tools. Maintains and updates building files, permits and records

Financial Resources:

Purchases goods and materials and signs off invoices. Selects contractors and monitors and certifies performance. Prepares estimates. Provides input into budget process. Commitment authority $500 materials only, $1,000 labour and materials.

This is a unionized role with the BCGEU governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. The rate of pay for this role is $38.83
