Job Title: Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologist

Job Summary: Want the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team to deliver exceptional care along with other health professionals? Overlook’s Outpatient Cardiac Rehab in New Providence is looking for a per diem Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologist. Your primary responsibility is to design and implement exercise programs for individuals with cardiovascular conditions. You will work closely with patients to assess their fitness levels, develop personalized exercise plans, and monitor their progress throughout the rehabilitation process. Your goal is to help patients improve their cardiovascular health, manage risk factors, and enhance overall well-being through structured exercise interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' cardiovascular health, including reviewing medical history, performing fitness evaluations, and assessing risk factors.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to gather relevant information for individualized exercise program development.

  • Exercise Program Design:

  • Develop personalized exercise prescriptions based on patients' medical history, risk factors, and fitness levels per department policy and procedure.

  • Design comprehensive aerobic and resistance training programs tailored to meet individual rehabilitation goals.

  • Modify exercise plans as needed to accommodate varying health conditions and progress.

  • Implementation and Supervision:

  • Supervise and guide patients during exercise sessions, ensuring proper technique, safety, and adherence to prescribed protocols.

  • Educate patients on the importance of exercise, lifestyle modifications, and risk factor management.

  • Monitor vital signs and symptoms during exercise sessions, adjusting intensity as necessary.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient assessments, progress, vital signs and interventions.

  • Communicate regularly with healthcare providers to share patient progress and address any concerns or modifications to the exercise plan.

  • Patient Education:

  • Provide educational sessions on cardiovascular health, lifestyle modifications, and self-management strategies.

  • Offer guidance on nutrition, stress management, and other lifestyle factors that contribute to heart health.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their concerns and providing motivation and support.

  • Participates in departmental meetings, PI activities, communicates ideas for enhancing service to patient population.

  • Continuous Professional Development:

  • Identifies own learning needs and recognizes performance strengths and deficiencies.

  • Exhibits the ability to work independently.

  • Stay current with advancements in cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, and related fields.

  • Identifies opportunities to upgrade personal or professional growth, attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or a related field.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular conditions, risk factors, and exercise prescription guidelines.

    Experience:

  • Previous experience in cardiac rehabilitation or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience working with diverse patient populations and adapting exercise plans to individual needs.
