Robert Half Full Charge Bookkeeper in New Orleans, Louisiana

If you're looking for work as a Full Charge Bookkeeper, you might be the candidate Robert Half is looking for to prepare and process financial statements and accounts and manage all general accounting and bookkeeping essential functions. The strongest candidates for this position will have excellent organizational skills, strong communication tactics, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. The short-term contract to full time Full Charge Bookkeeper will work in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing depreciation schedules by tracking fixed assets

  • Retaining historical records through the accurate filing of documents

  • Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and statements regarding income and cash flows

  • Overseeing work of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

  • Performing reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, as well as payroll processing

  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

  • Maintaining knowledge of current federal, state, and local legal requirements, ensuring adherence to them, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions

  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close


  • Expertise in general ledger

  • Proficiency in Accounting Entries

  • Solid understanding of account reconciliation

  • Posting Journal Entries experience

  • Payroll experience preferred

  • Can work independently with minimal supervision

    • Prior experience with Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree
  • Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment

  • High school diploma or similar certification with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business recommended

  • 3 or more years of experience in the bookkeeping field

  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments

  • Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate

  • Strong organization skills with a sense of urgency and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks

  • Knowledgeable of accrual and cash basis of accounting
