Position Summary:

Swank Construction Company, LLC is seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a General Laborer for our construction division. This position is an essential part of our crew, performing a variety of manual tasks to support various construction activities. This is a physically demanding job that requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work as part of a team. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be able to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to perform physical labor activities which includes, but is not limited to, lifting, pulling, pushing, and/or carrying different types of objects/materials.
  • Preparing worksite zones, installing traffic barricades, cones, markers, and controlling traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling scaffolding, barricades, and other temporary structures.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment using hand tools and machinery.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, which includes, jackhammers, plate tampers, concrete mortar/mixers, electric/hydraulic machines, torches, seal pots, chainsaw/quickie saws, heavy walk behind flat saws drills, and power tools.
  • Assist in jackhammering, mixing, and pouring concrete.
  • Caring for company tools/equipment/machines.
  • Keeps job site clean of all unused/waste materials and ensures all equipment is stored in a safe and secure manner.
  • Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with company policies and OSHA.
  • Willingness to perform and learn different aspects of the Construction Laborer position.
  • Perform all other tasks and follow instructions as directed by supervisors.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to effectively communicate in, and understand, English.
  • Required to utilize personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses & boots) at appropriate times.

     

Workdays & Shifts:

  • Must be available to work varied shifts (days, nights, weekends).
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.

     

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school diploma or equivalent- Preferred.
  • Valid driver's license - Preferred.

     

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Prior experience working as a laborer or equivalent experience - Preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude - Preferred.

     

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screens & background checks, including MVR.
  • Must be in a union or be willing to join a union.
