We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of I&E Technician with our manufacturing facility located in New Johnsonville, TN.
Essential Job Duties:
· Participates in and supports programs, methods, systems and practices for maintaining a safe work environment. Reviews the HESS program requirements with those in the department and recommends improvements to maintain compliance.
· Reviews work requests for safety hazards and takes precautions as needed. Attends monthly safety meetings as requested. Participates in weekly housekeeping and critical items inspections of the instrument and electrical shops. Participates in field evaluations of one key procedure each quarter.
· Performs reliable instrument and electrical repairs on all plant process equipment.
· Responsible for installation, programming, calibration, and preventative maintenance for electrical and Instrument equipment to improve field system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs.
· Troubleshoots, fabricates, modifies, removes, repairs, overhauls, or replaces parts or equipment on instrumentation and electrical systems, involved directly or indirectly with chemical processes or associated support equipment, in a safe, cost efficient, and environmentally-responsible manner.
· Responsible for ensuring stability of on-line analyzers.
· Identifies the need for and obtains the necessary parts, tools, equipment, materials and supplies to safely perform assigned work.
· Identifies and evaluates alternative plans of action required to solve instrument and electrical failures.
· Adheres to the area equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
· Maintains the necessary craft skills, training and qualification; including area overviews and applicable HESS courses required for the position, including First Aid and CPR training. Attends company or vendor training as directed.
· Trains and qualifies to operate mobile equipment, such as forklifts, manlifts, carry decks, etc.
· Provides assistance to other maintenance craft, as qualified.
· Performs all work in a safe and professional manner.
· Performs safety, quality, and environmental inspections, as assigned.
· Performs regular housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work area. Complies with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
· Participates in special information or problem-solving teams as requested.
· Utilizes Maintenance files and other engineering data as a resource in solving plant instrumentation and electrical problems.
· Performs recordkeeping required to properly document inspections and repairs performed; Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system to document repair notes, review repair history, requisition materials from Stores, etc.
· Maintains, updates, reports, and documents the electrical maintenance records and resources to assure availability and dependability of equipment, tools and spare parts, outside repairs, specifications, equipment history, vendor resources and library resources. Writes notifications on findings.
· Utilizes a computer for recording time and attendance, for SAP applications, for email communications, and for area process data, etc.
· Cooperates with other employees in a team atmosphere to solve plant problems and achieve plant goals.
· Provides technical assistance to production and engineering groups on application of new and modification of instrumentation and electrical equipment.
· Supports and fulfills the requirements of the plant’s Food Safety program and ISO Quality System.
· Completes the necessary activities to comply with the requirements of Routine Maintenance Work Processes procedures and guidelines.
· Completes any miscellaneous tasks and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
· Five (5) years process instrumentation/electrical maintenance experience in industry OR a Chemical Operator with Senior Tech Field Qualification at the Oxy New Johnsonville site OR two (2) years maintenance experience in industry and associate's degree in Instrumentation and/or Electrical Maintenance Technology.
· Must be NCCER Certified in Electrical or Instrumentation.
· Specialized or Technical Knowledge: Excellent diagnostic and repair skills are needed for addressing complex problems in electrical distribution systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have strong computer skills to interact with the computerized maintenance management system. Knowledgeable in mechanical relay logic and ladder logic, and programming of simple ladder logic programs. Able to read electrical schematics. Able to perform preventative maintenance on medium voltage electrical equipment such as switchgear, breakers, etc. Strong skills in troubleshooting 120-volt AC controls, 480 V, 2400 V, 13.8KV switchgear; Working knowledge of inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of distribution and power transformers. Must be skilled in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, and P&I drawings.
· SAP experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· This role regularly involves manual labor. Must be able to work while wearing full protective equipment and satisfy the “ability to wear” for respiratory use. Must be able to lift and handle bags of materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to exert force to open and close manually operated valves in areas with reasonable accommodation. Must be able to climb single-section vertical ladders up to 30 feet, climb stairs, and work from elevations of up to 60 feet above ground level, on small platforms and in pipe racks. Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces. Must routinely work on uneven surfaces. Requires dexterity to perform routine craft work, such as operation of hand and power tools, disassemble and assemble equipment, align and position parts, perform rigging, operate mobile equipment, etc. Must be able to distinguish colors associated with electric wiring and related systems. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
