Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Set Up Operators perform key machine equipment changeovers to ensure that our high-speed automated packaging equipment and lines run optimally and according to product/customer specifications, resulting in minimal defects and scraps while successfully achieving expected output levels. Set Up Operators are responsible for the reduction of equipment downtime using the proper methods of machine adjustments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct changeover procedures on multiple packaging lines. Use tools, standard operating procedures, and specifications to set up machines according to customer and product specifications Demonstrate partnership with maintenance by providing technical knowledge, information, and oversight during preventative maintenance work in the Packaging department Operates packaging equipment and both tote stations according to product specifications and ensuring accuracy in weights and codes. Adjusts ALL machines as required. Maintains proper documentation of downtime and repairs. Performs minor repairs and routine maintenance work on equipment. Continually checks the quality of the product, packaging, and case printing. Reports any issues or concerns Inspects and conducts regular deep cleaning of equipment after each product change, and continuously maintains cleanliness of equipment. Operates in accordance with health, safety and fire prevention regulations and practices. Report machine problems to the shift supervisor and ensure machine logs are accurately filled out, detailing mechanical and non-mechanical downtime. Fill out work order requests as needed to ensure appropriate machine uptime Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution Must have 2+ years’ experience operating long goods packaging equipment Must have 2+ years’ experience operating short goods packaging equipment Must have 2+ years’ experience operating bagger packaging equipment Must be able to work weekends, holidays, 12-hour shifts, and overtime

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

Associates degree in mechatronics, instrumentation, automation, or electrical fields Mechanical aptitude to repair equipment

Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel, and stoop for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to walk or stand for up to 12 hours per shift Must be able to reach above shoulders and climb/work off ladder for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to work in a dusty environment, high heat, or humidity for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to perform simple grasping for 8+ hours per shift Must be able to push, pull, and feel for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to list up-to 50 pounds for 4+ hours per shift Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written word Must be able to make fine distinctions by sound Must be able to distinguish object or equipment visually
