HORWITZ INC Mechanical Estimator in New Hope, Minnesota
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Mechanical Estimator collaborates with the preconstruction team to prepare cost estimates for plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal projects in commercial markets including manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and laboratories. The role involves phone and in-person contact with customers, vendors, and trade partners to gather necessary information to develop thorough and accurate cost estimates. RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES: These responsibilities generally describe the nature of the position and may not be all inclusive: Analyze blueprints for data collection. Perform system take-off s in estimating software. Prepare project estimates in Microsoft Excel. Contact vendors regarding equipment and fixture selection. Contact trade partners regarding project needs (i.e., temperature controls & insulation). Communicate with customers regarding upcoming estimates or reviewing past estimates. Work with project managers for purposes of planning, organizing, and tracking work. Participate in estimate review meetings. Write proposals. Attend worksite walkthroughs on construction job sites. Attend pre-estimate meetings on construction job sites. Perform other duties as assigned.
